Hi slowlyfading,
I can really identify with that feeling sometimes! I am either extremely careful with money and get really fed up because it doesn't seem to help, or I relax a bit but spend more. I haven't managed to find a middle ground yet!
I was so desperate to buy a house for years and I felt I would never get there. Now we are engaged and I feel like the wedding will never happen! I'm sure it will pass, it always does, but it's tough waiting for things!

slowlyfading: I imagine you are making much more progress than you think you are.
If I recall correctly you are the musician? On a weekly basis, I bet you do not notice an improvement in your playing but if you were to have recorded every performance from day one (yes, including that rendition of Fur Elise (cringe) for school assembly. You know the one where you proved you were "serious"...) you'd see just how accomplished you have become. This is just the work / life equivalent.2018 totals:

You and me both with regards to patience. You are very lucky to have dropped into money saving whilst young (I believe you're younger than I) and planning what to do with your life is (I imagine (can't say I've ever planned anything, just fell into things)) productive. However, there's nothing wrong with a little spontaneity at times.2018 totals:

Yes, spontaneity is something I'm not that good atBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Hey SF,
I've missed your posts - glad to see you backI too am constantly wishing my life away it seems - for me though its just the weekend :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: [STRIKE]I am hoping [/STRIKE]this will change when i get a new job which i enjoy doing
In the meantime i am consciously making an effort to be more engaged in the day so taking the time to really listen to colleagues and take on board how they are doing and celebrating the achievements they have in their personal lives. Ensuring i am polite, patient and considerate - its hard when you use public transport and are crammed in - this is often for me just realising that other people are in a rush and if they physically push past me to get off the train before me / stand on me etc. then maybe they have alot going on in their lives? This helps alot of the niggles wash away. Other times its feeling good that i actually pointed out to someone their lack of physical awareness whilst wearing a rucksack
i guess its not sweating the small stuff
All these things work to help make me feel a bit less drained at the end of the working day. And finally, shaking things up a bit - instead of settling down to housework and study when i get in contacting a friend, going out for a walk, watching a program that i really enjoy. I *do* have a routine pretty much - its hard not to when you work a set shift and have to catch x trains etc. but small variations in the day help it feel less like a dull working week

:hello: DFW, and thanks for popping by
and you make a good point, I do need to enjoy the moment now rather than wish my life away!

SF, are you me? Let's see...

Fed up with mortgage numbers only moving very slowly ... tick
Not very good at spontaneity ... tick
Ah, no, I found a difference: you have a man and are hoping to have kids whereas I have kids and am hoping to find a man.
DDFW is very wise, though. Hope both you and I can find some ways to enjoy the here and now even while making progress towards better times and places.Starting again 13/4/19Home loan 1: £21,102.50 Home loan 2: £7,698.99Total owed: £28,801.49

Lois_E - thank you for stopping by
your post did make me smile! I also hope that you and me both find a happy balance
My bike arrived on Thursday and I love itI had to pick it up from town so cycled the 3 miles home - loved it
made me feel great, if slightly sore from the seat (!) and I can't wait to get out on it more. I actually enjoyed the exercise! Something I don't do enough of.
I've had a lovely weekend with my parents, had a nice day out yesterday and just a pottering day today with a very tasty Sunday dinner in the mix. Just what I love about the weekends
Work continues to be very busy, as coursework deadlines start to loom and various students suddenly start to feel the panic of not being prepared/not done enough. Still, only 2 weeks til the Easter holidays
I get paid on Tuesday, so I'll do a bigger, end of month style post then. I'm hoping for it to be a good month end report, as we've been pretty good this monthBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
