What Alex said, SF - thats a really good summary.
The other thing I want to say is that this person is there for *you* - it isn't an interview. This is about what *you* need - you don't have to be a good client, or perform for them.
This is a section of the BACP (British Assn for Counselling and Psychotherapy) that I like (and I don't like much about their website, but this bit is good) http://www.itsgoodtotalk.org.uk/frequently-asked-questions/finding-the-right-therapist.
Hope it goes well for you.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

My first counseling appointment for anxiety is on Friday morning. I am worried they will think I'm just making stuff up
I cried this morning when I left for work, as I seem to do most mornings now. Leaving DS is so difficult. It's stupid because I know he is fine; he's a happy, beautiful boy who is growing up and having fun.
I wish I didn't feel like I was letting everyone down, all of the time.
Happy Tuesday
Yay to some sleep!
The counselling person will NOT think you are making stuff up but they will question stuff (so as to get you thinking about it rather than just letting it happen), they won't just pat you on the head and give you some "sweeties" and send you on your way either (at least I hope not ). You are not one of these people who keeps going "poor me, poor me" but then will not accept any help you ARE doing something about it and whilst it may take a while you will feel better in the long run.
Oh and whilst I am at it you are NOT letting anyone down - get that out of your mind right now young lady *humph*Must use my stash up!0 -
I suppose I should do some kind of update.
The past month has been incredibly tough. DH has been ill and in hospital. We've finally got a diagnosis and he is now starting some medication which will hopefully help. It might be a long road ahead of us, but at least we know what's going on now.
Then, DS collapsed on Tuesday and we had to call an ambulance. His temperature was 39.8 when the paramedics arrived and it took them quite a while to get him responsive. We spent the night in a&e and then on the children's ward, before being discharged just after 1 in the morning. We were back by 6:30am as his temperature went too high incredibly quickly and he was in danger againhe has been diagnosed as having an infection which was causing the high peaks in temperature, which he's now taking antibiotics for. Such a scary thing for all of us, but he seems like he's slightly better today. Hopefully that will be the end of this and I get my gorgeous, cheeky chap back asap.
That being said, obviously my priorities have been others for the past few weeks. This past week has been incredibly hard, both emotionally and physically.
I just want things to get back to normal, whatever that means.
So yes, that's my updatenormal money news will be resumed soon, I hope.
