Done little tonight as a disaster. Went to turn on a light and everything bar the kitchen sockets went off. Went to see what had tripped but nothing was off. So ages messing, girls at brownies and I had netball. Landlord promptly came ten mins before i need to go and we think we have isolated problem. He could do tomoz but his kids are at my dd2s party! So prob Friday now. But means I am behind on daily jobs now. So not had time to do anything. Even lady who came door was laughing as I had torch as so dark!
Mum says to leave washing up etc as she'll do in daylight.

I'm too much of an obsessive-compulsive type perfectionist to let her do anything.

I've re-washed dishes she has done (not very well) in the past, in saying that I've also re-done dishes OH has done too!

The only person I'd let near my housework (at a push) is my big sister (who would happily come and do it while chatting for a couple of hours) but she has moved away so I hardly see her now!

I think I may have to turn my linen cupboard into a temporary 'ninth square' though. I'm busy this week, however don't have any plans next week so could get to grips with most of it!

Excellent advise on the clothes problem, as long as you don't wear your Miss Whiplash outfit to pick the kids up! :rotfl:

:D Gosh, blossom, you didn't know that we can see right across the interweb (I apologise in advance if anyone is looking in my direction and notices the untidy sofa behind me)?

Miserable week here too. House looks worse at the end of this week than it did at the biggining.....always a bad sign!

    Lir,

Not feeling sorry for ourselves, are we? If you make Sunday the end of the week (just this once), you are only mid-week so still lots of potential.

I could hardly wait for DH to go to work as I wanted to get cracking on moving furniture. I knew he wouldn't have time to do it with me. I was too impatient to wait until he comes back.

I learnt today that things are not nearly as difficult as I imagine they are going to be. I moved a big cupboard all by myself. I did get told off as I thought DH had gone, had had my goodbye kiss, but he hadn't and he came to investigate. Cupboard is clean and empty and in its new home.

The downside is that I can't get both cupboards there are they are unstable. Wall slopes I think so fixing them there won't look good. Now I have to decide whether to keep my craft stuff in the new position and my work stuff in the ex-craft cupboard. It could be good to have a change like that.

Maybe I'll have a cuppa while I ponder. Work stuff needs to be very accessible.

I also learnt that my craft cupboard is not a cupboard. I could have sworn all my craft stuff had been gathered into one place, and was inside the cupboard. But craft cupboard appears to mean the cupboard and about 3.5 feet either side. I have some many handy storage boxes, folders, bags etc all with stuff in that I can't actually do any of it easily. Having stuff in boxes and crates etc is not being really organised - it is still hoarding if it isn't arranged in such a way that you can use it.

I wouldn't really have classed myself as a hoarder, more of an ex-hoarder, but now I am wondering if I am still deluding myself over certain areas of my life. You can fit an incredible amount of stuff into a single drawer or box. I mean absolutely loads and loads and loads. I think I am now a new subspecies "Cupboard Hoarder".

In a drawer, I have unearthed all my paperworkk relating to the previous house I owned - mortgage statements, particulars from buying it and selling it, surveys etc. Do I need any of it? It is over 6 years ago (6 seems to be a magic number for data protection, doesn't it?)
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

    I have 52 nail polishes

    And 72 lip stick/salve/glosses

Well......that was all of them I could FIND!

They are now all in the same place.......too many to use up in a lifetime probably, but why oh, why can't I bring myself to part with any?

No further de richarding done not even with the imminent arrival of the bunk beds

OH text me this morning from his work to tell me his dad wants to paint the girls room before the bunk beds come.......well considering it was done recently and the room is only used at night time I declined his offer of covering my half lilac half yellow walls with magnolia. I doesn't need done at all and if it was getting done it'd be MY choice it's MY home not theirs.....grr! Give them an inch and they (try to) take a mile!

  • ww - moving large stuff is easy isn't it - as long as you have space to do it and a large blanket to drag it on, or can walk it from side to side

Soooo ... we have sub-species ...cupboard hoarder, I had an engineering hoarder ... actually I am a seed hoarder ... what else

lir, does weather affect your health a lot?

Catriona, well done on getting through exam week ...

sjp - sympathies on the control-freaky in-laws, one of my family is just having to put their foot down before it gets worse, so I can see how annoying and demoralising it can be
Re the lipglosses, just put half of them into a plastic box and rest it on the radiator while you think about them ... the problem might solve itself
