    ok, I won't tell
Do any wedding dress makers make up a swatch pack with all the fabric and a button, pearl etc in, so the bride can keep that and let the dress go? If not they should!
You won't forget your wedding ww

    What a brilliant idea.

I made my first wedding dress (size 8!!!!!! Those were the days ... I'm double that now) and kept a bit of the lace I used to trim it.

However, I also kept the dress :rotfl:

Wow, progress indeed, was it the nagging or the leading by example that did it?

the fear that I would just do it! As I told him the end of my tether was running through my fingertips fast and I was going to just bin the lot!
For the shed, sounds like an ideal time to take a photo of contents and pore over it on the computer, decide what can be coinsolidated, where you need a few more hooks etc , may even lead to a few decisions about disposals - I tend to think that if OH disappears out there he will get distracted (because I do)

That's a great idea, I'll suggest it to him!
I am intrigued what you do with cards/burning?

He spreads the card (old boxes cut into 6" squares, roughly) across the bed so it's all covered, then sets light to it. It means the weed growth is burned away and he can then dig the resulting ash into the soil to improve it (perfect synergy?)
Re slipping; shoes with crepey soles stick to snow and are good to walk on it, things with tracks and ridges such as wellies can compact underneath and form a ski, not good, as I learnt when I broke my arm, so dont be tempted to wear wellies

Definitely no wellies. I've some yaktrax (but it's not been bad enough to wear them, :o this is sheer black ice mostly. I've been wearing my snow boots with (I've just looked) crepe soles and have got by ok with them so far! Luckily it's pretty much cleared up now but we're due a load more on the weekend (so I have a reason to stay in bed lol)
  • Evening, have been attacking the spare room today. Two bin bags full of DD's old clothes out. Another two of generalised crud. And nine carrier bags of it.

And there is still more in there - two huge boxes of random stuff, junk and suchlike. But it's quite strange clearing her room out, so it gets left until I can manage it.

However, I have noticed that there's an alcove in there that would take my wardrobe perfectly. And with just me, there's no real need for the cheap as chips IKEA wardrobe and chest of drawers that is in there. Which would mean my room consisting of bed, chest of drawers (optional), dressing table, bookcase (optional) and bedside drawers. If I got rid of the white CoDs as well, I could move mine in there...which would get me with just a couple of items of furniture in my room...

    [schemes and plans]

Once I'd had enough of in there, I did the downstairs bathroom. So that's halfway decent now. Nothing to clear out or throw away, just cleaning up after the cats (the litter trays stay in there and bits of litter get dropped or kicked by the little [strike] so and sos [/strike] angels, plus some dust.

Anyhow, I feel dusty now, so I'm off for a hot shower before looking for a film to download.

I may try and sell my wedding dress but I have to say it quietly so I won't be upset. It is a beautiful dress and someone else could get a lot of pleasure and joy from it.

I still have my wedding dress. It's in a box, and sits on the top shelf of a wardrobe. It's been in that box since 1981, and although I've always meant to try it on again, I haven't. Up until about 7 years ago it would have fitted, but I have expanded a dress size in the last few years.

It's another of those things that I've never thought about letting go. I'm questioning things more though. COULD I let it go? Probably not, but I will ponder it.

On the subject of dresses, there's another dress I've been thinking about. My christening dress. It's another of the things my parents kept, which I now keep. I have no children or grand children, so no one else will wear it. It's another of my parents memories that I'm keeping, not my own.

I'm really torn, I have no need of it, but, it's the oldest thing of mine that I have.

I've never regretted anything that I've decluttered, but I think letting those dresses go might cause regrets at some point.

    Hello again,

Blossomhill - thanks for the permission to abandon my tangled wool. I think I may do that - not even tackled it today, sorted clothes instead and picked out a few things to go. I don't have a huge amount of clothes so I'm ok with what's left and I wear it all...
I had a bit of another revelation today about my wool. I'm keeping all these bits of wool that I don't especially like incase my fantasy self can create something amazing with it -or even something useful would do actually! Well I realised if I can sell it, I can then buy some wool that I actaully do like and be motivated to knit something!

GQ Thanks for the tip re my pooping cat but she's not doing it in one spot she's gone in several spots:( She's quite old and I think sometimes she can't hold it. Her litter tray is in the kitchen but we keep the door to the kitchen closed cos it's flippin freezin in there!! And so she has to attract someone's attention to go in, so if there's no-one there at that moment I think she just finds a corner... Not sure what we can do apart from banish her to the kitchen, but it is cold and she's old.....

Sounds like people are making progress. I've managed to get my months supply of catfood in a cupboard now instead of the end of the worktop:T

Just need to clear some of my ninth square now so that I can continue. I think I will book a table at the local tabletop sale for Sunday and hope weather is ok. I have some bits on ebay but they won't make much of a dent:cool:

Grrr, why do people on Freegle say they will arrange to collect then fail to? Glad I didn't give our address, just my OH's phone number to call to get directions (we are not easy to find so directions are better than post code). This chap was supposed to call this morning to make arrangements then collect this afternoon, seemed very polite and nice, no phone call though.

Now have a pile of IT equipment sitting on the dining table and need to decide whether I offer to someone else and accept he may potentially call tomorrow.

My dress is a plus size and I very much hope that my DD would never fit into even half of it! Her colouring/body shape is different (like her Father) so I don't think it would be any good to her, not worth keeping for that reason. I do have a lovely wedding album.

I will ponder a little more.

I think I will be able to convince DH to replace a small wardrobe with a chest of drawers, which will suit the room better.

I had a few little things go out and chucked some stuff as I went about some normal jobs. I also sorted out some financial stuff.

Had to get the bus today for the first time in about a year. Took all morning for an hour appt but I got some exercise in the bright sunshine. I was nearly the youngest person on the bus, lol.

I had planned on doing a good decluttering stint today while DH was out. But I didn't. Time and motivation just dribbled away. I think I will sleep better tonight and I could still catch up with everything I wanted to get done by the end of the week. Yes, I must make that a target for Sunday night. You get days like that, don't you, where you do bits of 10 different jobs, and then you have a spurt of finishing them later on.

OH's mum has offered to get the two youngest dds their bunk beds we need for them to share a room (middle shares with eldest but is still in a toddler size bed ATM) as their birthday (although with birthdays in Jun and Jul I'm sure she will conveniently forget and still buy tons at the time!)

This will be a great help as we would have struggled to pay for them, however she bartered some kind of discount in store today and then was like 'do you want them delivered tomorrow'.........errrrrm, no! I still have a stack of toys piled up in that room and half of mount ironing :embarasse.

They are coming on Monday. There is no way on this earth I will be ready for them by Mon, it is actually a major task which doesn't only involve overhauling that room. Bt I guess it will prompt me to sort things a bit quicker!

I have always thought bunk beds are really exciting.

Invite your mum round to do the ironing, I mean, see how thrilled the children are with the beds.

Talking of other people doing jobs for you, yesterday I allowed DH to recycle some stuff without me checking it. I let myself trust him to do the job properly. That's a major milestone.
