A week or so ago we were talking about packaging materials, which inspired me to look at all the boxes, used jiffy bags, mailing bags etc that I've been keeping for eBay reasons.

I've halved the amount of boxes and cardboard that I'm keeping. I'm keeping boxes in sizes which experience shows that I need more often. Also, there's a couple of things that I know I'll be selling in the next couple of weeks, so I've kept boxes that'll be used for those items. All the weird shaped boxes that I'll never need are going.

Mostly I use new jiffy bags and mailing bags, but some times, often for older books, I'll use recycled packaging. So, I've only kept a few of the jiffys and mailing bags which are in better condition and book sized.

Also had a LBM the other day. I'm selling batches of 7" singles at the moment, and the boxes that envelopes at work a stored in are just the right size for a batch of records. So I've regularly been bringing home the empty boxes. But I don't need to do that any more. They are ALWAYS using envelopes at work, so there'll always be boxes available for me when I need them. So no more stock piling
    required !

Now I've got piles of cardboard waiting to go to recycling. Fortunately, the kerbside recycling day is tomorrow, so I'll put it outside tomorrow morning.

I've already been to the post office once this morning, but have another batch of eBay parcels ready to go. I'll walk down soon. Keeping an eye on the weather, snow showers, but nothing has settled during the day.

  • Jo jo - belated Happy Birthday for yesterday! 40 - you're young yet! I will be 51 in a manner of weeks - do I feel/act like it? Not a chance! The only midlife crisis in this house is OH's and I refuse to even acknowledge it!

I can only echo other peoples comments and thank you for starting the thread and all the hard work you've put into it!

If Stelios came round, you would have to investigate all his nooks and crannies - well, maybe not all, just the most.

I think if he came round here and sat down and said, how are you? I'd blub all over him, although I am okay.

Can anybody recommend a fresh, clean, dehoarder-boosting air freshener please? Our house doesn't whiff, but I would like a distinctive (sea breezy?) smell to get me thro the next few weeks. Don't usually buy it, so anything will be good....

Happy New Year everyone :) I posted last year and have mostly lurked since, you all seem to be doing very well clearing out, I think the feeling that spring is coming combined with a New Year feeling is always helpful :)

I have finally braved ebay, my first items (I'm limited to 10 per month for the first three months as a new seller, which is a bit annoying) are ending on Friday so I'm hoping to declutter and bring in some much-needed cash!

Whitewing I don't use sprays but I do have those *ponders* ...stick things....in oil...nope, the name evades me, but they are by Airwick and usually on offer at Asd* at about £3.50, (full price they are £7 but I've found that the £ shop ones don't seem as effective/long lasting. Anyway, these last for about 6-8 weeks and the linen/white jasmine/clean laundry/fresh pants/whatever one is lovely, really fresh :)

I love the ones by JustBeNatural LINK - not MSE at all as organic etc but with the recent cancer scares over highly perfumed chemical stuff I prefer them. Before that I like Glade Fresh linen but it smells too chemical to me now

    I've been Money Tipped!
I prefer candles and open windows for freshening tbh. If not sufficient although it sounds mad, clean the windows with viniegar. It will smell of vinegar for a little while but then smells really clean and fresh after wards.

Whitewing, this is my favourite fragranced candle. I live in the Midlands and this takes me right back to the seaside in Wales. HTH.

  • whoops, told my parents about this (they have loads of clutter too) and they thought it was a great idea. Such a great idea that I came home from their house the proud new owner of a board game and a vase!

Think I got it a bit wrong there :o

    Dehoarding rule #179

Items do not have to be carried home to be dejunked. It is perfectly permissible to drop them off to a charity shop on the way home, or even to go slightly out of your way to dehome them. Catflapping is also permissible but not through random people's doors, you do have to know the owner/occupier.

Thank you for fragrance suggestions. I will see what we can get here.

"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a house in possession of a good stove, must be in want of a cat." emo31.gif (Sorry Jane...)

I have that cat...he is gorgeous, and he's sitting on the sofa watching the flames in the stove. :) I am in love.
