    I've been Money Tipped!
Re progressive landmark birthday cards...my mother is always going on about how old she is. On a birthday in her sixties, bored of the 'I'll be dead soon' laments I bought her an 'on your 100th birthday' card. She didn't know whether to laugh or whip me. ;).

Still, think she is planning on getting her own back one of these days.

    Happy birthday JoJo! :bdaycake:

I didn't mind turning 40 but it seemed like everyone else round about me had a comment to make about it and not always in a nice way! My brother gave me a book at the time entitled "Things to do now your'e 40" and the ones I particularly like are "have a mid-life adventure instead of a crisis", "be aware that your prime starts now" and "jump into puddles and enjoy the splash"! My DH thinks I'm mad when I do the last one but it make us both smile!!

Many happy returns of the day JoJo. What number it is doesn't matter as long as you have a good life which is what we all wish for you.

A bit late in the day, but happy birthday JOJO!

    :bdaycake:

Not been in the house over the weekend so no decluttering as such done but DID get OH to manage to put my bike in the shed (from the hall) which means his bike which lives in the hall (as he uses it Mon-fri for work) no longer juts out causing a kids-stuff-ie-jackets-to-be-ruined-on -dirty-and-oily-chain-situation!

He has given the 'wrong' of the kids electric scooters back to his mum (nephew in London ended up with a pink one and until we get pink one back can't set up other dds either this will happen in Feb) just as well this was a 'granny' Christmas present and not a 'Santa' Christmas present

The scooter which cannot be used till we have the other one here has been temporarily put up the loft so there is even more moving space around the kitchen table.
And he EVEN put a t shirt of his that had a little hole in it (and is too tight for him) in the cash-for-clothes bag.

    We will get there!

Well it's going slowly, but progress is progress... 7 items on Ebay (one with a bid :j) and half a bag of clothes for collection so far. I need to do more, but it's a start

Oh, and HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY JOJO!

    I lurk.....but today action !

4 bags of books to charity shop after studiously checking the isbn on Amaz0n to see if they were any value.

    29 books on Amaz0n - 4 sold in a few hours:j

Shuffled books around so they are more accessible and ordered - i will limit my book purchases to 10 this year:o

DS2, who is 6ft 3, enlisted to pull out all the bedding from the airing cupboard - 3 bags for charity shop of old kiddies bedding. DS asked "why you keep it - we wont suddenly become children again" I replied for the memories and smell of the bedding. Anyway I decided to keep the cot blankets (hopeful for grandchildren - if not then my doggies will benefit) and a couple of my most favourite duvet covers. The rest has gone for some other children to enjoy.

Sorted through paperwork and have loads for shredding and filed a lot of receipts and paperwork - not too difficult as I am quite paranoid about this.

Sorted out the drawer with all the kids info in and binned loads of old timetables and letters from school/ college.

    To do:
    Recipe folders
Art/ sewing/ craft stuff needs a proper sort out.
    Baking cupboard / pasta etc.
My clothes drawers and bedside cabinet is full of memories and needs putting in my memory box.
My dvd's need a proper home.

    I will get there x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

You're doing really well and have inspired me to get on Amazon (selling for once rather than buying :rotfl:)

Well done Molly, ;) it helps to see it through your (tall) kids' eyes - and he also has a different view from you (unless you are a 6footer too) so ask him for his view (literally) of things on cupboard tops etc - I forget that taller visitors can see things I stash on top of the microwave (inc dust))

How would you feel about putting a note on the calendar for a week or two into the school holidays saying "bin last term's timetables and school letters" so you have a system in place to stop them building up again? You can't stop them coming in but you could stop them overstaying :rotfl:

  • Happy Birthday for yesterday Jo Jo and thank you for all you do here :)

More inspiring tales from fellow hoarders, good work all!

All my ebay items finishing yesterday, sold nicely and three have alrady paid which is good news. Only problem now is that I have to trek through the village up to the post office, in the lovely icy rain. DH assures me the weather will be much better this afternoon but as the PO shuts at 12 o'clock that's not much comfort!

Ah well, the wood burning stove is going strong so I can sit by that with a cuppa when I get back. Bliss!
