I spent all last night trying to get mine into a big black cd case (and then store the cases in the loft). Good idea except they only just fit. I buy quite a few cds each month. Going to need to buy another one! Maybe A-M and then N-Z lol. Cleared off a whole shelf in my room though!

The sewing machine I got from freegle which doesn't work and truth be told would never be used if it did work
is really part of the fantasy-me so is going back on freegle (obviously stating it needs repair) as someone may find a better use for it than it's current dumping-ground status.
As is the set of old school blouses I kept from DD with a view to making doll's house bedding etc (another fantasy project) those are in the wash (they've been lurking for well over 3 years so need another wash before going to the CS)
The boots I got from everything 5 pounds (please don't go to the site, sooo tempting!) that I have never managed to get my foot into due to the overzealous stitching :rotfl: I have finally put in the bin. My feet are never going to get any smaller, so the boots are just taking up space!
The dinner service is going on ebay, already photographed and I'm doing the words now. I feel this has been a productive weekend!
Byatt, lucky cat getting a good home! I've promised myself that once we're decluttered we'll give a cat a home, as there's too many boxes for an inquisitive cat to investigate at the moment! :rotfl:0 -
Byatt So pleased to hear about your new furry friend he is such a lucky boy x0

Whitewing and Greengoblin are reviewing their CD's - I'm also doing a musical project. I'm selling our singles collection on eBay. A few batches have already gone, and I'm grading and photographing the rest of them. I sell them in batches - unless they are rare they'd take forever to sell individually. I've picked out a couple that I will try to sell on an individual basis, but most are bog standard chart records.
Once I've done the singles, I'll do the LP's. Once when that's done, I can start on the CD's.
Now I've got an iPad, I'll be buying most music as downloads. Most of my CD's haven't been played in years. I've transferred my favourites on to the iPad, but many CD's can go and not be missed.
I'm not sure when I'll get to the CD's, but it will be looked at in due course !Early retired - 18th December 2014

Hi all
Had to venture into my room of despair today to find something
Whilst in there (inspired by Cas) I got rid of some old magazines, any paperwork that was no longer relevant (well a small percentage of it) was shredded and rubbish was put into the bin. My time in there did involve some churning, paperwork was put into a plastic tub for me to sort/shred at another time. But on the plus side I can see some of the carpet and walk (with caution!) to the back of the room.
It is nowhere near richard free (2 VHS players anyone?) but it is a small step and once the next couple of weeks have calmed down it's a giant leap I'm looking forward to tackling (I know I'm strange!)

Evening all and welcome to cas.
Byatt, fantastic news that you'll have a cat soon. I bet he'll be in front of that stove of yours and thinking he'd hit paydirt. Wishing you lots of purrs and snuggles from your new furry friend.
Well, I found the tabletop again. It's a very small table against the wall and tends to function as an oversized shelf. There is a strata of kipple, a mix of important stuff which I opened and glanced at bud didn't get around to filing and carp like shopping lists.
Must do better in future. It now has a pile of library books to go back tomorrow so I don't forget and an item of paperwork which will involve a phone call to be made tomorrow and is out there to remind me (I'll need it for the call so not worth filing now).
I too am a bookclubber but aim to use the library for this so once the club night is done, the book is off the premises. I have a small quantity of books which are "keepers" and a floating population of books being kept until they're read, some od which have lingered a shamefully-long time in that status.
Going off to count the latter; 10. Thought it was a lot more than that, tbh. The goal is to have read them all and got rid by Easter. I read a lot and these will be part of the 130+ I'll devour this year. It used to be 170 but then I discovered MSE...:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

is really part of the fantasy-me so is going back on freegle
There will always be cotton sheeting in one form or another, hankies are good for mini-doll beds and come ready hemmed:Dand don't forget hemming tape (Wundaweb etc) can be used to iron hems together insetad of sewing, and takes up less romm than a machine
The best way to get a cat is to get a rescue one - then your house has to be decluttered and tidy enough for the home-check visit :rotfl:
I managed it a few months ago - the little darling is a bit under the weather so I got hot water bottle out for her, well one of the several hanging on hooks in the cupboard - checked them all and insides had deteriorated so 4 in bin and went out to Boots to buy a nice new one (yes, for a cat!) - guaranteed for 2 years so guess that's the reasonable lifespan - the others were 10 plus
The thread has been quiet today so I guess everyone is decluttering and listing madly on eBy :TYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -
Filing cabinet, a couple of books and some excess stationery has now gone.
However, the picker-upper had 3 cups of coffee before they left so that meant I didn't do much else, which is slightly annoying.
Recycling is in the car ready to be dropped off tomorrow.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -

There goes the birthday card making pointed comments about it being my 40th today.
Why go to the bother of sending a card (even if she couldn't be bothered to get a proper one) and then make a comment that implies the receiver isn't so young anymore? Why?
It's bad enough it was the only card received. But to be an unpleasant one?I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

I have also just finished off a long delayed creative project so it is fit to pass to a happy recipient. It will be out the house on Wednesday...I've had it 13 years.:o
Cas, big welcome to the thread.
And Byatt - I too am very cheered by your cat news:)I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0
