When my perfume was discontinued I bought the last two bottles I could find and kept them boxed whiole I used them up. Now I have two new bottles of perfume (neither is the new 'one for me' sadly) and I spritz with one or t'other each day. No faff ing arou d with boxes becuase I don't expect the. To last long enough.

Have your tried ebay for your long-lost perfume, lir? My mother loved a fragrance called Sortilege. She last had a bottle of it in the '70s. I found an unopened, still-in-cellophane bottle for her a couple of years ago on ebay. She was thrilled :)

Oh der, this isn't quite the right tone for a post on a non-hoarding thread is it

Today, I bagged up some more books for the CS, put aside some magazines to take to the doctor's surgery and (perhaps partially) de-richarded the cupboard under the sink. I tend to revisit after a while to see if more can go. It usually can.

Two of my three bedroom bookshelves are falling to bits, probably through having too many books piled on them in the past.
I put one together by myself and it really needed two people to get it together solidly.
My dressing table has suffered a similar fate, as I really struggled doing it by myself.

At the time my DS (29) was teenage, absolutely, completely unreliable and refused point-blank to help. (Time has improved him somewhat, though his stuff is expletive everywhere in the house. )

I'm thinking of decluttering enough books and clothes so that all falling apart furniture can be binned.
    There's a thought....

    I'm cluttering :D a cat!

I'm getting one from the rescue centre a lovely 5 year old, all white boy.

So excited, it was a big decision, but then I found out about him in a roundabout way and my LL was more than happy for me to have a cat, so I went to see him on Friday and will get him Monday. :T

Not had a cat for 5 years, and have been petless for months and I need something to love. I do my pet sitting, which is lovely, but having one of my own will be fab, and now I have room, well...:D

Fab news Byatt welcome back to the world of cat ownership. I'd be lost without my 3 (sadly had to have 2 pts in September, one was 20 and the other was 15ish, at the vet's best guesstimate. I got a lovely but mad kitten in October).

Sorry if this is a bit personal, but would you have had the confidence to get a cat before you began your dericharding journey? Would it have been the richard or you (or a mixture of both) that prevented you from getting a cat?

I think the cat is very lucky to have a caring owner like you.

Goodness me, is there no stopping you all today?

I just looked up some vintage perfume that my mum liked. There is some on ebay so may get that for her.

I have yanked 8 wooden magazine holders out of the bottom built in shelf. Put 6 holders' worth into recycling. Have 2 left that will eventually be looked through for memory albums and excess discarded.

Quite by accident (ie I had long stopped actually seeing them), I have got the containers I need to store the stuff that was in the filing cabinet so it is accessible in the cupboard.

Definitely physically taking something away from where it has always been makes it easier to open up new ideas.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

I am now resigned to finding a new one. It's not easy, but it should be fun.

Noone tell my darling dh but the beautiful diptique one he got me i do not love at all, but it's interesting to smell 'like someone else'. I know what scents I like together on me...what makes me happy. I just need t find a perfumier who agrees its a good mix again. I am obviously going to have to be flexible about some notes, but I think that's probably a good thing.

Decko, not too personal, no I would never have done it, I have been talking about it for 2 years, saying I couldn't have a cat because of the road...I had my dog, but she has lived with my DD for almost a year now, come to think of it and I miss her a lot, but she is happy with DD and because of her age, not having stairs, makes a difference to her. There just wouldn't have been "space" for a cat and I had no confidence about having one at all. Plus I kept putting obstacles in the way, which now, seem ridiculous. There's no way I would have considered it with all the Richard about, my life seems so much better and much more positive although it hasn't taken away the issues we have, it's helped me cope with them better. This is the first time I will have a pet that is my very own (not a family pet). Thank you for being happy for me. :)

Yes, BH, he needs me! (I need him too :))

Thanks for sharing that Byatt, I was just wondering as my dericharding journey has given me the confidence to apply for other, better paid jobs and wondered whether others had had a boost in their confidence. Yes my issues (not related to hoarding, but maybe my hoarding is a symptom of my issues???) remain but I wasn't/ am not happy with some aspects of my life and now I have the smidgen of confidence I need to apply for these jobs.
