Hoarding - A New Start

Well done Whitewing - sound slike afte a difficult weekend, you have triumphed:D
I'm poorly today so doing nothing. I've been ignoring twinging tonsils for a few days and today I can't any longer and have to stop.
There is no doubt feeling poorly results in lower ability to cope with change and anything that requires physical or mental effort (which feels like everything today) and I am batting away anxieties that are trying to nest in my center of wellbeing that I know will melt into nothing as soon as I feel better.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

Thank you! It's so strange to feel able to firstly get rid of things that I don't wear, and second, get rid of things that I am only wearing cos they are there, and are so worn it's tragic.
Buying carefully sounds like a plan.
I do have a small range of items that will be worn continuously, jeans, boots, cosy jumpers etc.
I have some skirts that rarely see the light of day, and some dresses that are worn once a year....
Running shoes still in holding pattern, waiting for old, worn, but loved fleece to be washed so all can go out at once.
8 plates left the house this morning though. Spares but hate using them cos they make a terrible noise when accidentaly scraped by cutlery :eek:0 -
Brighton Belle, hang in there.
It is hard enough to do what needs to be down when feeling rubbish, let alone the greater effort to get rid of any hoarded items.0 -
I've had a proper de-hoarding day
I've been going through the stuff I got down from the loft, including some of the things from my parents.
I did this exercise a few years ago, and I was quite impressed with myself, as a lot of things went then.
However, I've identified a small pile of things for ebay (and photgraphed them), another small pile of things for thinking about, or for speaking to OH about, as they belong to him!
I think there must be another box of my parents stuff still in the loft, which I'll look for tomorrow. There's a couple of things that I want to let go of, and they are not in the boxes I've looked at today, and I know they didn't go last time!
I also have a large box of photos to go through, and two folders which relate to the the purchase of our 1st house (1981) and this house (1989). I intend thinning out this box and the folders.
I've ordered some plastic storage boxes from eBay. I was hoping they'd be delivered today, but they haven't even been marked as dispatched yet. That's a bit annoying as the stuff I'm keeping has just got to sit in the spare bedroom until I can get the new boxes.
Overall, I'm pleased with progress today.

How exciting, my plastic boxes have been delivered after all. So good service as they arrived when promised, but bad communication because they didn't tell me they were sent!Early retired - 18th December 2014

There is something so appealing about stationary and storage boxes! Lol!"Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful." William Morris0

It's a common theme here
BB - hope you are feeling better, there is only so long you can ignore your body telling you to slow down before it makes itself known for forcefully.
Bit more tidying done, a bag of rubbish collected from lounge - including a USB Christmas tree which I haven't used for years but "it's so festive". Not sat on a shelf in March it isn't:p
Am going to try and get some minor paintwork repairs done tomorrow - OH had office furniture delivered and it took big chunks out of the bannister and wall at the bottom of the stairs before they decided it wouldn't fit  I hate to say I told him so but...
Heard back about our carpet and it is okay as long as we choose the same colour and style :rotfl: no chance! Some compromise will be needed I think.
We have also been told they are looking to replace the single-glazed plate-glass aluminium-framed windows (the original ones from when the house was built in 1950 ) before next winter so we will have double glazing :T
2 years ago they re-roofed the house, did the loft insulation and cavity wall but didn't do the windows (finances I expect) and it was chaos for 6 weeks whilst it all went on so not looking forward to the actual work but will be worth it for the end result.0 -
Hmm, feeling a bit lacklustre and in need of someone to kick me up the bottom - feel free!
Have painted the banister and it looks so much better, planted 3 raspberry canes and laid a fire for tonight but really not getting anywhere and I must get on.
So please someone point me in the right direction!0 -
*kicks katep*
I'm the same! I still feel ill though! I start getting better then get worse again! I've done a bit of the ironing so that's a start but I'm heading off to work again in a little under an hour and I don't want to do anything strenuous before then
