Simple Payment Card: Retailers Refuse To Pay

The op has now said the money wasnt originaly on the card but went in today so all the bemoaning previously was totally unfounded.
He also wants to draw out £600 in cash? Are these smaller retailers that have signed up to the service? How many will have £600 spare in cash on the premises?
If they've signed up to the scheme Poppie then they have apparantly agreed to release the funds on the day they are requested. I agree with what you are saying though, lots of paypoints are in small newsagents."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
sub-post offices aren't allowed a paypoint. it is only retailers (who may also have a MAIN post office. Citibank own paypoint, and got the contract - who you know or what you know, or wheels within wheels? Cynically, let us see if the Govt get a donation via Citibank, or a minister has connections? Talking of cynical, although it is some time since I have been on this site, the attitudal standard has deteriorated. I actually thought I was on a 'let's ridicule everyone' site - I won't name it, but the !!!!!ing there was gross! I posted my thread in good faith, and from personal experience of all I said! I speak as I find. I expected adult and constructive HELP. I did not expect acute personality disorders to rubbish diatribe - are they sick or sad people (or both)?. But having read thro' postings on same subject - belligerence rather than tangible commenting is prevalent! Perhaps those reponsible should get out more into the real world instead of having a 24/7 love affair with their computer! If you don't have something positive to say, perhaps you sad sacks should stay quiet, for the world does not revolve around you, so get used to it! You[/I]' being the generalisation for those sick responders to genuine threads]. Now, is it possible that those who are TRYING to get sensible answers, are afforded a modicum of respect. And that polite, properly knowledgeable people will answer? Thank you.0

Wrong ID? :eek:0 -
Retailers have to wait five days before they are paid by the government. They have to pay out of their own funds which a lot of them think can be used more profitably elsewhere. I don't blame them for refusing to play along with the governments game but I do think it is wrong that they are listed on the simplepayment website as offering the service. Trading standards should look into this false advertising.0

Spoke to simple payments this morning about this very thing. A disabled chap tried to draw his money from three outlets. Simple payments said they are suppose to keep a minimum of 600 pounds at all times for payments. So each retail outlet has to if running low ensure the money is there. It is disgraceful that they do not have a better method.0

If you want to complain the number is 0845 600 0045 they have arranged for one of the outlets to have his money for 11:10am this morning.
I had to call but if paying 40p a minute not from BT landline then it can be a costly call.0 -

Look at saynoto0870.com for an alternative number which is included in mobile and landline allowances0 -
Although this is an old post. The facts still stay same,
Simple payment was set up by the government to allow people without a bank account to be able to get their money easier.
I too had the same trouble gaining access to my money I was owed and also my ongoing payments that still go in now.....
I asked at least twenty shops all with a Paypoint machine before I found one that let me have it.
It seems to be the case, that even though all the small shops in your local area might have Paypoint machine, most of them are too small a business to either have signed up to the governments agreement or just too small a shop to wait the three days it takes them to get it back....... I have been using this card for a couple of years now and i still have only ever found two shops in my area to allow me to get at my money , even though some have asked me to come back at a later time so they have it to pay me. Like me u will probably want it straight away cause either it's owed from back, dated money or just because it's yours and u need it
MY ADVICE TO YOU WOULD BE THIS!! USE ONLY A SPAR Or DILLONS RETAILER!!!!!
This will give you a much better chance of them being able to pay you as they can cope with wait to be paid back from the Goverment and have more people using their Payment machines for gas and electric etc, PLENTY THESE SHOP'S About!! - AND of course , it's Much LESS HASSLE FOR YOU0 -
DWP are trying to phase out Simple Payment cards completely. There are a number of banks who have signed up to provide a basic account with no overdraft facility and this should avoid the problems outlined above about accessing funds.
From a processing viewpoint, Simple Payments are anything but simple. It's necessary to either provide the claimant with a 10 digit, one off code for a single payment or for the claimant to wait 3 working days for a card to be received. I'm aware that many shops who initially were willing to sign up to the system withdrew as they were being flooded by people trying to obtain large amounts of cash. Small businesses don't generally hold, or want to hold, large sums on site.0
