  • bear with my ouybursts on moment longer... its been fairly hard coping since august on foodbank.

Still no retailer has accepted the card. I cannot access my money.
    Theres £902.00 ON IT NOW!

it's just a number, it means nothing.
  • Have you thought of contacting your local MP? This situation is totally absurd.

  • sent 2 emails to my mp. so far ignored: mp is Yasmin Quereshi.

I just phoned the "lost simple payment card" line (0800), only free at payphone not via mobile....
Anyway, it is a general enquiry line, for the benefit of others - use it instead of the 0845 number given on the card.

This call resulted in being told to wait a few hours and I'll be called back with details of a shop that has a whole £600.
    Waiting.

I'm thinking of reporting the whole system to the financial ombudsman to be quite honest, I'm doing that next.
  • Does this whole experience count as being alienated from an 'inalienable benefit?'..

Have you asked any of the shops what is the maximum amount they'd give you? Even if you only got £50 a day or something it'd be better than the situation you're in.
  • I'm just waiting on this call for now, I have found one shop that (said that it) will have the money at 6pm. So no matter what I'll get my money today, sooner or later.

It is shocking: less determined persons must be despondent over this card..... I don't quite know how *I have survived 6 months with nothing.

Just* got the callback 5pm-600 bobberoonies.... excuse my funky prose :)

Still, something needs to be done.

I know of 4 individuals and 2 families who have been paid zero over christmas and new years(excluding myself).. its shameful.. well no, not the tories, being beyond shame as they are.

    Peace.

Funny I think most people are thinking exactly the same. :;)

Maybe a lot of the shops don't know about Simple Payment Cards. I'd never heard of them until this thread. I have tried to buy Ukash vouchers before now from Paypoint machines and have been refused because the person in the shop has never heard of them.

OP did you ever go back to the DWP and tell them about the problem you were having obtaining your money?
  • Very glad you will finally get some of your money. This is a scandalous situation though and I'm frankly disgusted that your MP hasn't even replied to you.

The op has now said the money wasnt originaly on the card but went in today so all the bemoaning previously was totally unfounded.
He also wants to draw out £600 in cash? Are these smaller retailers that have signed up to the service? How many will have £600 spare in cash on the premises?
