Simple Payment Card: Retailers Refuse To Pay

245

Comments

  • Hi there OP

The retailers that have signed up to the simple payment scheme are legally obliged to pay out up to the £600 a day limits, if they do not have the cash at the time they are supposed to ask you to cll back at a later point on the same day did they do this? If not there is a helpline number you can call and report them as they are in breach of their contract, call paypoint and complain as this level of service is a disgrace.

Check here to make sure the paypoint outlet you're going to allows Simple Payments. Also make sure you're going between 8am and 6pm M-Sa

Right, so what is the difference between a giro and one of these cards then.

You still have to go the PO or a shop, you still have to have identification and now, a memorable date!

It's a waste of taxpayers money. The good old tried and tested giro system seemed to have worked for many many years so why change it.

On top of this we are hearing that some outlets won't pay out on the card. So it is down to the poor old claimant to go tramping the streets trying to find someone that will exchange the card for some readies!! And they call that progress - more like shifting the responsibility and onus onto the claimant.

And if the reliability of these cards is as good as the 'electronic door keys' that Travelodge issue, they probably have a 60% chance of actually getting hold of their money. The other 40% will have to send the card back as it simply doesn't work!

Presumably the paypoint company owner is best mates with someone in government and convinced them that moving to paypoint would save the govt a lot of money !!

Who are you talking about? - intrigued

If what you say is correct you are suggesting that they are having an argument/discussion with themself!! Wierd, very wierd.

I think miduck is referring to the fact that post 9 reads as if it's from the OP in post 1 , but has a different username

Ehh ? How does post 9 look like post 1 ? They look like completely different posters to me. Post 9 is from someone who is curious to know why payment was done to a card instead of to a bank account.
  • did you ask the pay point places for the full amount or just £600 might be better to ask one place for £400 and goto another place and ask for the other £400 not ideal i know but it might just work.
  • Thanks for the info, I realise now why the shopkeepers were a little sheepish when refusing to pay.

It's a ridiculous mess, as the rest of the system is, had nothing since 21st december, the 800 isn't on the card even (as thought) after all!, it's (supposed) to be credited on the 8th jan now..

They're hoping I get very depressed... ..... I'm certain of it.

    13 weeks now without pay.

    Employment Support Allowance:

    Where's the employment?
80 days of no money = support?
    Allowance...? something you are allowed..
    Lets not forget it's a benefit :/

Camerons speech split us into Skivers and Strivers... His words, I suggest introducing yourself as a Skiver when phoning DWP ;)

    Cheers.
