The problem is what "lifetime" this is. If it's the lifetime of Prestige as a company well, they went under some time ago.
You do realise this thread is 5 years old and oft resurrected? You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -
the movie was better than the pans0

Re my Prestige Cook N Look saucepan, whose handle fell apart.
I don't like to moan on a forum and not follow up my complaint. To my surprise, the outcome with Meyer was really positive!! (Thank you everyone for your experiences and feedback on this).
I sent an email with photographs yesterday (I was delayed because their online form comes up with errors, and I didn't want to email the pressdesk email address - the only one showing on the Meyer site). Eventually I got fed up and emailed it anyway.
This is what I got, a day after my email:
"May we advise that on this occasion, we would be prepared to replace the saucepan for you without it being returned.
However this range has been discontinued and therefore the replacement would be from a similar range with a similar specification (see attached).
Please can you forward your full postal address (including daytime telephone number) and confirm that the faulty pan will be disposed of (preferably at a local recycling centre)?"
I'm really thrilled! Not what I was expecting at all!! :j Originally I was just going to chuck the saucepan and forget about it, but I'm glad I pursued it now.

I was considering purchasing a Prestige pressure cooker but the quality doesn't sound too promising.
I had some copper bottomed pans with wooden handles myself. The handles on those fell off. Not sure who made them though.0 -
Interesting thread. I came across it because I was "googling" for replacement handles for my pans. Only one pan actually. I got a set of Prestige Lifetime pans with Greenshield stamps about 40 years ago. They had the Bakelite type handles. They very occasionally needed tightening but the handle on the milk pan has now disintegrated. The knobs on the lids melted years ago due my 1st husband leaving them unprotected on the Aga. I've since replaced these lids with universal ones from IKEA. About 15 years ago my late husband and I found a set of beech handled ones in a skip. I've had no trouble with these at all and wasn't even aware that they shouldn't go in the dishwasher.I prefer rogues to imbeciles, they sometimes take a rest (Alexander Dumas)0

I had a set of Prestige Lifetime pans with wooden handles bought in 1982. They were on special offer and I always regretted not paying more and getting a set with plastic handles. The profile shape of the handles for the model of pan I have is circular. When the wooden handles needed replacing a couple of years ago, I discovered the guy called Ian who makes replacement wooden handles, and would have ordered some, but I really wanted plastic handles so that I could put the pans in the dishwasher. I discovered that Le Creuset do a phenolic handle with almost identical dimensions. I bought a set of these handles and fitted them and they have been excellent. The only point is that when fitting them, you do need to remove a small piece of the plastic on the inside of the handle so that they fit the mounting on the pan. This requires the use of a junior hacksaw and file, so they cannot just be fitted with a screwdriver, but the final result will be very solid.
The Le Creuset handles are quite expensive, at around £25 each, but if the pans are still in good condition it is worth it. These Prestige pans were made in Britain to a very high quality, unlike later Chinese rubbish. They were the Rolls Royce of pans, and now that my set of pans have the new handles, I expect them to keep going for many years.
I hope this helps someone.0 -
OK I now this is an old thread that was started way back when but just thought I'd update it as I too had a positive outcome with the Meyer group recently. I wrote a polite email stating that my Prestige pans (bought circa 2000) had a lifetime guarantee and would they repair or replace my large pan as the handle had worked loose after 15 years. I provided a few pictures and a short video demonstrating the handle wobbling and they straight away said no problem just pick a similar item from our store as that range is no longer current. I selected two alternatives which were the closest match and my preferred one out of the two and they posted it out to me free of charge. Well done Meyer :T0

I got his name from this thread, in a post from 2008, and wanted to confirm that I just bought two high quality replacement wooden handles for pans dating from the 1980s so he is still in business. Email for details: ianelna@btinternet.com. These can also be used to replace some of the bakelite handles that use the same fittings.0

I know its an old thread (resurrected a few times), but I found it looking for a fix for my prestige saucepans - the old square nut had cracked in half allowing the handle to fall off.
I'm posting in case someone finds this thread in another 20 years (or I need to remind my self what I did when the other two in the set go in another decade.
I couldn't get another square nut, but I got a standard M5 nut and filed one 'angle' off it so that it would drop in to the welded lug, it re-assembled nicely. They are over 20 years old, and have been through the dishwasher a few thousand times, so no complaints.0
