prestige saucepans all fallen apart:guarantee?

hiya, can anyone advise me on this one please
i've got a set of prestige stainless steel copper-bottom saucepans, they are just over 7 years old. they were expensive but were supposed to be worth it as i thought they would last a lot longer than this.
all the actual pans are great, it's just that one by one, all the handles have fallen off!
they 've only had normal domestic use by the way.
the way the handles are attached is a real weak link in an otherwise really solid ,quality product.
before shelling out for a new set, i thought i'd try and see if i can get any replacement or repair, or money toward the new set, whatever.
i've googled 'prestige' and all i can seem to find is places that sell prestige pans, does anyone know where i can write or email to complain and see if there's any kind of guarantee i can claim under?
of course after this time, finding the receipt would be impossible. have i got a chance or am i going to have to shell out ?:D
if anyone knows anything, i 'd be really grateful to hear it, thanks.
(or even, "how to weld the handles back on" might be useful too!:D )

I too have prestige saucepans and find the handles very wobbly like they're about to fall apart. They are about 7 or 8 years old and I thought they came with a 25 year guarantee.I ahve been looking for websites to see but can only find the same as you not any head office to complain too,so I'd be interested too in anybody who has any info.0

I would suggest you go into a store which sells them and copy address off box."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

missile, why didn't i think of that, lol
lilyann, that's what mine were like: for the last couple of years they've been wobbling and not feeling at all safe, we've been using them holding with 2 hands all the time etc. now they've all dropped off
funny how yours are about the same age, i wonder if that years batch was faulty, or if that's just the length of life they have. like you said, i was sure there was a lifetime guarantee, or a long amount of years guarantee anyway. oh well.........0 -
Every prestige pan has a sticker on the inside of the base with details you can refer to, seven years is not a bad lifetime for a pan but that being said prestige as another poster has emphasised supposedly guarantee them for 10, 15 and 25 years I believe depending on the range you select. I have bought and used many pans in my lifetime and to be honest the best value I have ever had in efficiency of heat transfer and longevity are the ones I currently have which were purchased from Woolies believe it or not, they have been abused for over 12yrs now and are as sound and efficient as the day bought, in fact I had to double take about a fortnight ago at my absolute disgust that one of the handles had come loose (sorted in five seconds with a screwdriver) when I realised how long I had them and how unreasonable my feeling of disgust was, price paid for the largest and most expensive pan was a princely £4.99 which is a three litre stainless steel sandwich base. The frying pan has outlived my Le Crueset by four years so far.

In 1997 one of our affiliates purchased the Prestige brand name. For over 50 years the Prestige brand had become synonymous with household cooking in the UK and many export markets. Since the acquisition Prestige has been re-established and re-invigorated as a major brand of products known for their quality, performance and value. The Prestige brand now embraces cookware, bakeware, kitchen utensils and is a growing brand in the small domestic appliance category.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
I rang Meyer which took over the Prestige company in 1998, but they don't feel bound to honour the lifetime guarrantie on my pan. Meyer offered to sell me a replacement part if they had one. They didn't.
As someone previously mentioned the pan was excellently made except for the handle. My problem is to just replace a lost nut for the bolt fixing the handle to the pan. The nut is however not a standard metric or imperial size. I'm loathe to throw out something that is of such good quality but the way the pan was made it would be very difficult to fix a replacement handle on to it. So for the lack of a simple nut i'm going to have to dispose of the pan.
Such companies that don't respect their customers and obviously care little for the enormous environmental damage involved with many thousands of their pans needing to be junked should not receive our support.
I hope people will boycott Meyer and other companies in its group (Anolon, Circulon, Silverstone, Bonjour) that treat customers and the environment with such contempt.
Needless to say i will not buy from Prestige or Circulon again.0 -
Prestige went bankrupt and into receivership.
Meyer only bought the NAME.
Meyer have no liability for warranty claims for the previous Prestige company.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

Junking sauce pans is hardly likely to cause an environmental problem. Scrap yards are crying out for metal to recycle. The only thing that would go into the land fill would be the handle. Which as you say, has come off, anyway.
If this other company has just bought the Prestige name then it is by no means sure that they are even making handles with the same fixing or design as yours.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Had my Prestige saucepans approx 1964 handles didn't last more than a few years - as given as presents didn't know where they had been bought so never took these back. But made me laugh that you are loath to throw these out - I know that I have at least one saucepan (minus handle) up in the loft. I think it is time to throw it/these out!
Having said that I have a small Prestige frying pan that belonged to my Nan (who died in 1965) I am still using this albeit now only once a year for pancakes - handle solid as a rock!I rang Meyer which took over the Prestige company in 1998, but they don't feel bound to honour the lifetime guarrantie on my pan. Meyer offered to sell me a replacement part if they had one. They didn't.
