Why's that being awkward? He was doing his job, which is to make sure that hotel guests get seated first. I would be narked if I was staying at the Orleans and non guests got on and I had to wait for another bus. After all it is a service put on mainly for their guests, paid for by them, and allowing non guests to use it "subject to room being available"

Because the amount of people waiting wouldn't have filled the bus.

I agree that hotel guests should get priority. However when there were less people waiting than seats on the bus it seemed pointless.

    Not doing GN first....
We arrive on the 22nd (Weds), so staying at the Mandalay Bay until Saturday. I'm in 2 minds whether to just book with QuickRooms which inc resort fee for the 3 nights, or whether to try the Best Rate thingy.....
Part of me think the direct booking my hinder my cheeky chance of a room upgrade ?? could be wrong though :)
Then for the Sat to Monday, were in the Golden Nugget, although Carson tower booked, hoping my back and forth emails with Jo from GN might secure us the Rush Tower or a suite (hey, i booked 1 week at the Trop via Netflights in 2011 in June, and got us a paradise suite on the 19th floor Before we even got there, so emails sometimes work!! :D:D )
Then on the Monday, were staying at the Luxor which has now been comped !! :D:D:D

We like downtown, got a nice buzz to it, and theres a few things wanna do down there, so this fits perfectly ! especially want to goto the mob museum !
The hire car works out to be £167 with fuel for 7 days (costs the same whether u book 5, 6 or 7 nights!, thats for an intermed, but hoping just like before, either sweet talking and being a DE member will help secure a bigger car ! :)
Get the car on Sat, saves on taxi fares going up and down again, and gives us the chance to drive to the South rim, as well as the prem outlets :)

oh, and as to our budget, with the current wheeling and dealings, were £16 over each on the £700 jobby! :D:D
However, still havent tackled the airlines yet on trying to merge the flights so i can avoid panic at Amsterdam!, will keep u all posted! :D

Um surely that should be the priority as if you don't there the rest is going to be somewhat irrelevant !!

I would think exactly the opposite...if you are booking direct with the hotel you're paying them directly - they don't share anything with any 3rd party. I've no idea what cut 3rd parties get, but regardless...I would be really surprised if booking with a 3rd party somehow made you more likely for an upgrade than booking direct.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

and if by magic both hubby and I just got offers for 2 comped nights at Cosmo...though it's across the street from Paris really...but hey free...I would not expect any chance of an upgrade to a terrace suite but laundry facilities would be most excellent again! :)

The GN is the only place so far that has not sent me any special offer e-mails since signing up.
I have been checking the rate for the new Rush Gold Club rooms and it hasn't varied for my dates at all. No resort fees good though.
I'm making a conscious effort to avoid resort fees where possible, especially if they don't include bottles of water, as apart from a newspaper thats the only benefit we have.
Its just a case of juggling where we want to be, and comparing room rates with/without resort fees.

Reference the Orleans shuttle, strangely before this thread it never really occurred to me it was primarily for Orleans guests to visit the strip, I always thought it was to attract strip walkers to visit the Orleans casino, or both.
I can see the logic now, it probably is more for the benefit of Orleans guests to make a trip to the strip without cabs.

I'm still going to try it though, after all we are bound to leave some money behind in Orleans.

I signed up online at GN and have been getting offers in email ever since, usually 10% off and a free buffet.

We are staying there this trip for the first time, booked through clever hotels though as it was cheapest I could find, cheaper than the offer price.
Rush tower to expensive though so have gone for the Carson tower

Does anyone know if it's worth booking flights for September now or will Virgin/BA have a sale soon?

Looks like I'll get a decent deal using flightcentre.co.uk. Anyone have any dealing with them before?
  • Anyone know of a decent-yet-MSE place I can get a good massage in Vegas? Going in June and staying in MGM Grand.

EDIT: just to clarify, I mean an actual massage...not a "massage"
