Probably should simplify my answer.Yes,it is possible to get left behind.

More to the point, there will certainly be people on the bus, that you couldn't get on,that were NOT hotel guests.

Thanks for info ref shuttle bus, I know its not far as we have stayed many times, this is the first time without a car though:eek:, only for 2 days mind:D.

We are getting a cab from the airport and we have never used a cab in Vegas...its so exciting :(
  • Thanks Brats / photo, think we'll give it a go.
Nearly stayed at Orleans just to go to McMullens and be able to have Guinness with our food, but they were sold out for our dates.
Last time we went I don't think I have ever looked at a pint of Guinness with such longing. :D

A Taxi was about $17 from the airport to Orleans.Im sure your already well aware to say no tunnel to the driver.
Only time I forgot to say no tunnel we got taken the long way round, added about $10 to the trip...so I told him he could do one for the tip.

I know a few people on here stay at the Orleans for maybe part of their trip,it keeps costs down, and enables you to stay part of the trip in a better quality hotel.
But we have stayed at quite a few hotels, including the odd decent one,and I can honestly say,the Orleans is my preferred choice of hotels now. There is such a nice friendly feel to it,staff have always been helpful,They have everything under the one roof and the prices are great from the rooms to the food.I love sitting with a coffee and a bagel in the coffee shop in the morning, with my iPad,catching up on the days news through the free Internet.

Oh and the really cheap booze from their own liquor store.
6 beers for about $8.00.

It had been years since we took a taxi from the airport - first time in recent memory was a couple of trips ago when we decided not to pick up the car until the next day...soooo much nicer to just get in a taxi and have them take you to the hotel without the faff of the car first, I think...by that point I just want a shower and to hit the casinos.

I do not normally do the 'no tunnel' thing...if they longhaul me, there goes their tip and I tell them that...probably I got there faster anyway. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Agree with all you say about Orleans and if you stay there regular you are almost gteed 2 free nights for a return visit (if you join Bconnected).

We are staying there 4 nights this time which has enabled us to stay 4 nights in the Augustus tower at Caesers, always wanted to stay there just to say I have but guessing this will be the one and only time

We are thinking of trying the shuttle to visit McMullens Irish Bar for something to eat and a few pints of Guinness, and popping into Orleans for slots, save driving.
Noticed on the website it says Hotel Guests Have Priority Shuttle Seating At All Times, has anybody experienced being stranded ( or having to take a cab ) by not being able to get on buses, or is it usually easy enough ?
If the bus is full, you will only need to wait about 15 mins for the next one. They don't usually discriminate between hotel guests and everyone else. Perhaps they do at the end of the evening though. We don't usually stay out that late.

Yeah but is that safe at night??
Right where Tupac was shot. I've only felt a bit unsafe once, walking from Platinum to Ellis Island for Pizza on my own, there were a few guys hanging around at a derelict bit, they didn't say or do anything though, probably homeless guys just sitting around.

There was a couple of occasions, a few years ago, when the driver on the Orleans / Gold Coast bus asked to see room keys when picking up. We thought we were goosed, but we did get on after all the hotel guests were on. He was just being an awkward so and so.

It was the older guy with the specs that normally drive the bus and we haven't had a problem with him since, just on that trip.
