tax is not payable on comped rooms, and depending on hotel the resort fee may or may not be payable0

absolutely, every little helps!0 -
If a hotel 'Comps' u a room
and they write Comp & tax (but you pay resort fee)
Am guessing that means the room is on the house with tax included ?
as photome says tax is not payable on a comped room (nothing is actually charged so nothing to tax).
same goes for comped food, etc...if you pay for a buffet with players club points or similar - there is not normally any tax to pay...is a little additional savings when using comps to pay for stuff.
In your past trips have you signed up for the various players clubs? if so, have you checked what rates you get quoted after logging into your Total Rewards account (you're looking at Flamingo which is part of that group)...sometimes people have been surprised even for fairly minimal play.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Last trip, i signed up for the Tropicana players card, on the last day (doh!!!) haha!
Signed up for TR Rwards online the other week, and signed up with MLife online since playing 'MyVegas' on Facebook.
I've just had my 5 nights at Luxor Comped !!!
Had this in the mail
"
Arrival: Monday, May 27th ~ 5 nights
Roomtype: Pyramid Deluxe Room
Rate: Complimentary room & tax (guest responsible for $18/day resort fee) "
Its come about due to the error the marketing manager made by including me in an email to other members from the group who work in the other hotels (for office stationary requests!!), i sent them all an email asking why after 165 hours, i'm still waiting for a response to the Best Rate Guarantee which was supposed to be dealt with, within 72 hours!
Couple of cat claws thrown in too, plus me getting a slight telling off, followed by "you wont be happy either way, so we'll just comp you the room anyway"Fair enough!!
So 5 nights Resort fee at $18.50 (plus tax ?) and already paid $44 for the 1st night for the original booking, guessing that stays on my account as a credit ready at check-out
Still, happy with the result!
Also, anyone know if Treasure Island charge a Resort Fee ???
Am looking at that hotel, on the likes of TravelRepublic.co.uk , but it doesnt mention a resort fee, other sites state 'No resort fee to pay' , yet the vegas sites list this hotel with a $25 a night resort fee ????????0 -

yes they do.
you can always confirm this by looking at the hotel's website...whether it's included in 3rd party bookings varies.
And if you use your TR card then next trip you may have some good rates available...some have said just signing up gives them discounted rates after logging into TR and going to reservations and checking your dates that way.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
See the below exchange yesterday with lowcostusa.co.uk
I know they are wrong, everybody on here will probably say they are wrong, but what would you do - book and then complain like a good un when you get back and have been charged resort fees?
I've replied asking if they are certain because my understanding is that the fees would be mandatory. I'm going to cancel my existing booking (which was £5 more and doesn't include tax or fees) and book with these guys as I'm already 12% better off.
Hi,
Yes all taxes for hotels are included i.e. the 12% etc
With regards to resort fee this is not mandatory. This basically interprets that you will not be charged a resort fee unless you use services covered by it typically the gym and internet access. If you do chose to use these services the hotel will charge you locally.

Hi there
For our dates your site is showing £xxx for a city room.
The title block states that this includes taxes which I take to mean the 12% typically added on check out.
Can you confirm whether my interpretation is correct?
And does this also include the resort fees?
Thanks

UPDATE - just received this;
Hi Martin,
The Cosmopolitan's Resort fee is definitely not mandatory for International guests. The Cosmopolitan is one of our top selling properties in Las Vegas.
Many thanks

I actually sat at my desk and said 'WOW' out loud!
Definitely changing my booking and complaining like crazy if/when I have to pay the resort fee.
On a separate note does anyone know if the Cosmo are still doing free breakfasts for international guests? We stayed last year as part of honeymoon trip and free Wicked Spoon breakfast buffets were a welcome bonus.0 -
On there deals, it states if the Resort fee is 'included' or 'excluded' , hence its cheaper to book with UK agents.... I know Virgin Holidays include all resort fee's too...
Currently finding QuickRooms.com and LowCostUsa.co.uk to be showing super good rates, and states with the prices if it includes the Resort Fee...

Martmonk - on the basis of what they sent you, I reckon you have every right to kick their a$$ if you subsequently get charged for the resort fee
Can't help on the breakfast, though we booked (via. Avios using points) last year, and it wasn't included for us. I think people mentioned on here that you have to book the specific 'international breakfast' offer now(via. their website or 3rd parties that include it)
