We never ever take the Deuce downtown...always take the SDX or whatever they are calling it now - so much faster. I don't think I have ever actually been on a Deuce but they always look so terrible crowded and slow. :)

but I agree that the limo tour sounds nice...not the cheapest way to see the sites but having someone else drive you, having the limo experience and being able to have a drink if you want is a lot different to a hop-on/hop-off sort of tour so

cheers for the input peeps :)
and yeah, i'll go with what you say, if it feels right, go for it!
I did a test on some other days, and it looks as though the price only drops by a few pounds, so think i'll get these booked now while it looks a good price!
    cheers :D:):)

**for holiday inn (Friends & family), did the quote and it was showing £14 cheaper than anyone else!!!!! :D:D But at the same time, its now only £4 cheaper than anyone else, as when you book through the brokers, something called 'TOT' or hotel tax of 10% is already included, where as booking on the IHG website does say you will pay an additional 10% room cost at check-in!
Oh well, a £4 saving is still a saving..**
Makes me wonder if the UK rules California with tax on tax on more tax ! :D:D
oh and I bought $$$ on my FairFX this morning, $1.60 to £1 !

I wonder if anyone knows the answer to this:

With the white house shutting shop etc would it be worth waiting from me buying my $$$ to see if it crashes and i can get more for my money?

If whitehouse re-opens will the $$ go up verses the ££? I suppose if anyone knew the answers they would be made very rich!?

Trying to find some info on google etc

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/09/30/us-markets-global-idUSBRE96S00E20130930

Bare in mind i go in 25 days and the last shutout lasted 28days...hmmmm

    *Edit*

High volatility and weak dollar: Andrew Freris of BNP Paribas Wealth Management told NDTV that a possible shutdown will lead to sharp volatility in stock markets and will lead to a weakening of the US dollar, though temporarily.

Seems that there will be a window to get slightly better rate but only a small one?!

The Big Bus Night Tour might be more fun than a limo (definitely cheaper) - the reviews are good and they take in Fremont St for a little while too. I plan to book it next time we go.

we're in the same situation, and may wait a little bit...but what we do not know is how much is already priced into the rates at this point...but it does seem like there may be a chance to maximize the rate we get...but only by pure luck will we ever hit the top...and don't want to get too greedy and kick ourselves...£1.61 at the place we normally go at the moment...which is 6c higher than in our budget spreadsheet...so already we would be better off.

Where do you normally use if you dont mind me asking? Is it online?

I'm going to hold off for a week and from what i can tell they need to decide before the 17th October otherwise thats a major issue for them!!

I doubt we will lose out anyway by holding off so should be fine!! Hopefully plummets to $2 - £1 :P

I'm lucky as I am in London...after missing out (?) on the whole tragedy of Crown Currency by a matter of a 3 days if memory serves (I ordered for delivery on Monday knowing it would likely arrive on Saturday - think it was Weds or Thurs deliveries that were the last ones that arrived and had I not been paranoid and ordered a week earlier than planned we would have been stuffed), I won't do the order online, pay the money and have it sent to me thing ever again.

we normally go to one of these branches.

    http://www.bestforeignexchange.com/Exchange-rates-check-exchange-rates.php

it's the same locations as Thomas Exchange Global, but usually about 1c better (not at the moment, but historically it has been slightly better)...and we normally order in advance for fast track collection.

Currently planning Vegas trip number 3 and am wondering which of the cheaper strip hotels people would or wouldn't recommend and why?

On our previous trips we have stopped at he Orleans each time then moved on to the Cosmo on trip 1 and the mirage last year. Would like to do a split again next year. We like a decent pool area but apart from that aren't too fussy.

The Excalibur may be the best of the cheap hotels on the strip and has a decent pool area. I wasn't keen on the widescreen room we had, which was supposed to be an upgrade, but the OH thought it was fine.
