Well we're down to two...I think.
I looked at the Vdara but decided against for an forgotton reason! - so its down to the Mirage and the MGM Grand....I think...*sigh*
Mirage - £275 - 394sq ft. Resort King Room
MGM Grand - £236 Executive King0 -
btw anyone got any recommendations for data sims? Had decided to buy a sat nav from Amazon.com and get it delivered to the hotel for our arrival (first night at the airport hotel) as its cheaper than hiring and I can take it home with me
- but it just dawned on my I have it on my phone - Just got the network unlocked - but now need to find a good data sim deal...any ideas?

We have stayed in both of those hotels-MGM we even had a suite- but hands down Mirage is the better hotel in my opinion. We have stayed there twice and absolutely loved the location on the strip, the restaurant, cafes, bars and the rooms are lovely.
For me I don't particularly like MGM end of the strip I would much rather be more central which the Mirage certainly is!!:)0 -

Its only 0.8 mile, but its a walk along N Las Vegas Boulevard, with parts without sidewalk, under bridges, and could be very hot, probably take 15 mins.
We booked the 2pm tour, and intended to walk there, but took the car to find it earlier that morning, you can't miss it, its the white swoopy triple shell shape roof building with a free car park.
We would be happy to walk, there are lots of people are about, but it goes without saying, there will be street people outside the 7/11 and under the bridges.
There is a #113 bus passes by, there were people waiting by the bus stop both ways.
If possible I would drive, its a straight line, and less than 5 mins.0 -

Buy in the States, bring it home and sell in the UK. We bought a decent Garmin for 99$. The problem with sat nav on your phone is that it eats battery life as well as data.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Agree with that. Also the dedicated sat nav will have maps on the device, on a data card, so it only needs to locate the satellite to work.
A sat nav on your phone doesn't have local maps, so it needs a data signal too. Not only does that eat data, as already said, but if you're out in the desert with no service then that also means no sat nav.0 -

Copilot premium USA is £10. GPS navigation 2 is £9.50 for worldwide maps. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

Fair point - the power side isn't an issue as have all the cables for the car, the signal is a valid point though still need a data sim though, any suggestions? You can buy a cheap navigation system that downloads the maps to your phone so no need to use data.

Hmmm interesting...will look into that thanksBut it will have U.S. maps on it. Whoever buys it this end will have to pay for UK maps which will put lots of people off
I wouldn't sell it, I go to the US too often and tbh, would save my employer renting the god awful Hertz Never(but nearly always is)lost0 -
