Our first visit to Vegas and we went to see cirque, chose Mystere on the grounds that, if we were going to do cirque every visit to vegas, starting at the first show was a good idea. I loved the show, but not enough to go to another cirque. I know they are all different, but there are so many options in vegas, I am not sure I would devote another evening to another cirque.

We also saw menopause the musical. I thought it was hysterical, OH thought it was funny but was a little shaken and came out whispering "would I really be like that?"

    A Tower King room at the Mirage is very tempting - £280 / $438 - $618 though on mgmmirage.com

    very tempting, but still :-/

Question, if I book through LCU - can I contact the hotel direct after booking to confirm everything is correct, or is there some issue with it being booked through a third party.

Netlflights.com is worth a look, I recently booked with them for the Vdara, haven't been yet so can't comment on the booking but are part of the Thomas Cook group so should be fine etc.

As always with Vegas double check that resort fees are included with any good offers.

Resort fees with netflights are included for me but I phoned them to make sure
  • Booked online, it can sell out on walk ups.
Its really close to Fremont Street, there is a ticket office where people buy t-shirts, assemble for their slot, before one of the tour guides walks you through the yard.
    We really enjoyed it.
The second part of the tour is a map of restored signs around Fremont Street which you do by yourself, and was also interesting.

Thanks! :) Did you walk from the Neon Musuem to Fremont Street? It's just that I've heard it's abit of a dodgy area to be walking in?

I'm still looking through various places - getting bored now - too many options and too many prices lol

Vdara looks nice, its on my list at £286.

    Then there are the others...
    Elara - £252
    Signature MGM - £215
    Aria - £366
MGM Grand - £264 or £236 exec king
    Mirage - £281

Tbh, I keep reading reviews and its not helping, when hotels are this big its always going to have good and bad reviews.

I've never been to LV before, I didn't want to go as such (Big Sur was my preferred destination this trip) but the other half did, so I don't want to be annoyed with the place.

We're not drinkers as such, we don't really gamble and we're not 4 am partiers. Kinda think I might be setting myself up for a fall here lol!

We're not big drinkers either, we like to gamble a little bit, and we're not 4 am partiers either, but we still get enough out of Vegas that makes us want to go back again, this time will be our 5th time! It never appealed to a friend of mine either, but then she got together with this bloke who loves it, so they booked a holiday there, and she was hooked, they've now been twice. I guess that Vegas has that kind of a hold on people! :rotfl:

You'll find good and bad reviews for EVERY hotel on trip advisor, I've saw a lot of bad reviews for PH lately, and we were thinking of changing (maybe still will, not sure yet?), but not because of the reviews, purely because I want to give the Cosmo a try as I want a balcony! :rotfl: But I know that unless we get a really dirty scutchy room at the PH, then I'd say we'd still like it there....I try not to take much notice of the reviews, as I'd even seen bad ones for the Cosmo which surprised me....so it happens everywhere. I only had one small wobble about PH when I thought it had turned into a 18-30 holiday destination!

The Big Sur is amazing, but to me, it's kind of once you've seen it you've seen it, it doesn't have enough to keep me interested....I'm much more of a city girl!

Yeah tell me about it! So many hotels, so many reviews and a few resort fees here and there...

I've been once before and stayed for a week, 5 nights Excalibur and 2 nights MGM Grand. This year it was down to MGM Grand in either the king exec or tower spa suites or the vdara premium view deluxe suite, went with the Vdara as its new and is more central so liked the look of that. Also liked the fact that Vdara doesnt have a casino as hopefully there will be less of a trek to the rooms!

Yeah reviews are well a guide but it wouldnt get too hung up on them, its only the bad reviews that stick in your mind. You see 100 good reviews but its that 1 bad review that sticks (for me anyway)! I stayed at Excalibur for 5 nights never had a bad word to say about the place and its probably one of the lower ranked hotels on the strip and well really liked the MGM and thats why I considered it again for next year. Guess its where your expectations lie and what you are used to.

Me and the Mrs arent big drinkers and we didnt start gambling until 3 or 4 nights into our weeks stay so I wouldn't worry too much about that.
