I wonder if this trip we might just manage to see anything green on our plates during our whole stay.

hmmm...Key Lime Pie has some green in it...

we usually stay at the gatwick hilton, which is attached to the terminal - only about 5mins walk. they do a park&fly deal, where you get a room & 9/16 day parking ticket from £139.

the car park is pretty much directly opposite the hotel and although you have to walk along the main road a little bit, you can walk between hotel/car park in 5-6mins. it's a big car park, but there are usually spaces in the first parking area as soon as you go through the barriers. even if it says it's closed, i usually cheekily drive in and park there anyway! just so i can get to the hotel more quickly.

Premier Inn also does a similar package i think, but not used it.

from memory a week's parking is usually around £60/70? quidco usually have an offer on with one of the suppliers.

another one who normally paris twilight check-in with a stay at the Hilton...though we normally arrive by train now when we used to drive we really liked the Euro Car Park (may be the one that secretmachines mentions) as when we arrive back we just walk through to the Hilton, down the road and in the car - no waiting for a shuttle that may fill up and have to wait again when we used to buy the package that included Summer Special car park.

There are cheaper options but being able to get out of bed in the morning and walk to security without any need of shuttle or taxi is worth a bit extra to us...and upgrading to the executive floor can be worth it for the nibbles/drinks in the evening and the continental breakfast in the morning...depending on the cost of course.

I dont need the hotel, I am driving down tomorrow and staying in a premier inn (crawley) for £28 an parking in the gatwick car park monday morning for £40 (12 days)

If parking for an hour was cheap enough I would go and drop bags at twilight check in, if its not worth it,i will wait till the morning as I will have checked in online anyway.

to be honest, you could probably park in the bays at the front of the Hilton, whizz through the lobby, out the other side to departures, twilight check-in, back through the Hilton and drive off!

the bays out the front of the hotel are meant for those staying at the hotel, checking in, getting car park validation, dumping bags in the room, then going to park the car. the bays never seem to be full, and they don't clock you in/out, so if you parked there 20mins, no-one would bat an eyelid.

agree - and if there is a bellman there you can just say 'I'm just going to check in'...you wouldn't be lying. :)

you do pass through a parking garage between the Hilton and the south terminal as well...which would be pretty convenient I would think.

Short term parking prices are here:
