I bought a r.com cert for Pampas moons ago and eventually exchanged it a few weeks ago.

me too - though I still have one...bought 2 in a really good sale in 2008 when we knew we were going twice within a year...finally exchanged one about the time you did and still have one left. Maybe will put Texas de Brazil on the to consider list...it does intrigue me! :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Gutted...found a good deal yesterday to Vegas, went to book today and the flights have doubled as it appears Virgins sale finished yesterday.

How often are there sales for flights to Vegas? Is there any logic to them or have I just majorly messed up? We were planning on going for 4 days from June 29th.

I can't say for certain, but it seems the sales come earlier in the spring (this one seemed a bit late but maybe not) then sort of August or so once summer holidays are winding down...I could be wrong - we've normally booked our fall trip by now so maybe not looking out for sale emails too closely this time of the year...hopefully someone will disagree with me though and I will be completely wrong as I can imagine how you'e feeling!

However I can recommend Texas de Brazil at Town Square which is the same set up and I think booking is essential as we booked for a Tuesday evening and it was mobbed.

I'll second that recommendation!! We didn't book when we went last month but had to wait about 15 mins for a table. It does get busy but is quite a large restaurant. I'd recommend booking if you can't wait for your food though!! I'd highly recommend this place - I wouldn't even bother with Pampas at half the price given the reviews and reliability of TDB's food quality. I think it was about $45 for the salad and meat option. You can get just the salad on its own (and it is a very nice salad!).

Even with booking we still had a wait of around 30 minutes and it was only when we kicked off that we got a table. They weren't taking drop ins that night.

The 4 day Virgin sale would not have done the OP any good for June, the dates available for the period between Sept (I think) and mid December (for sure).

I always hanker to go and if only to satisfy my inner demons I'm checking prices a couple of times a week, having to wait until November is frustrating, especially when I check my Virgin booking and it says '''only''' 199 days until your flight with us.....SHUT UP!! The pot is sweetened by going to the Breeders cup first. But it is still a long time to wait.

Blimey! I'd have been devastated. (And probably a touch angry...) I hope that was not typical for them to be so disorganised.

If you want to fly business class on BA or Virgin for a lot less than usual, you can fly Brussels-London-Las Vegas for £1450 in July/August. Book by April 24. (you need to get to Brussels, but if you've got some Avios, it won't cost much).

In theory you need to end the trip in Brussels - in practice you just get off the plane at Heathrow and don't bother with the final connection - as long as you don't have checked in luggage!
