Has anyone been at the start of August before? I normally go in September after Labor day but this won't be a possibility any more so it'll have to be August. Will it be unbearably hot (its been high 30s when I've been in September) and will it be very crowded? I like to spend my days by the pool relaxing so if its really busy this will influence which hotel to choose.

113F on my car thermometer august 2011, thats 45 in real money, yes its hot, unbearable depends on you i guess. No way could i sit outside in it, infact I didnt want to be outside for any length of time anywhere in it.

We did go to the Mirage pool one morning really early and got a longer ok but were gone by 11 as it got to hot

I can probably cope with low 40s if I stay in the shade (with my pasty white skin) so I need a pool that is shady. I do like the Mirage but I find the pool stressful as you need to get there really early to find loungers. I found that too many people "reserve" loungers with towels etc there. I'm considering Aria as it has 3 pools and I think it gets quite a bit of shade. Unfortunately I can't really book anything until June so this might turn into quite an expensive trip:(

boooo, OH said she wasn't sure she could do another long-haul flight this year, so Vegas may have to move to the back burner.

on the plus side, it could mean more time to save and do a 2-weeker to involve a few nights in Vegas, and a week in Hawaii some time next year ;)

Just been pricing up some flights for March next year and by getting a flight to Amsterdam then starting our trip from there we can save almost £3000 (yes that is £3000) compared to starting at LHR with BA in Club. We can even load our bags for the LHR/LAS sector without having to take them to AMS with us.
Then on the return because we are changing airports (arriving at LHR departing to AMS from LCY) our bags get offloaded and we will probably have a flat tyre and miss the last leg.;)
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

I've been in August a few times and yes its HOT, I don't do a great deal of sunbathing but don't think pools will be any more crowded than at other times of the year. If anything I would have thought people will probably stay less time as would be too much to stay all day!

I cope well with the heat..... . casino with cocktail waitress usually does it:beer:

I followed the link to imageshack, and then clicked where it says "link shares", copied that link and then clicked the 'insert image' button and put the link in there :)
