new years eve - whats the point??
Comments

well I have my 4 year old son curled up on the sofa fast asleep beside me, he cant sleep without his sister here but shes gone to my parents as she wanted her grandad lol. Ive watched my soaps, been in my pjs since about 7pm, had 4 or 5 archers and lemonade and am currently watching bridget jones diary.
I went out last year on new years with a few friends who are all in couples (im the singleton) and my god it was boring and quiet, we went into nearest 'big' town and were back in our home town by 11. I saw in the new year with them and went home cos it was so boring!!!
When I was 18+ new years eves were amazing, everyone knew everyone, the 'big' town was packed and there was just a sense of enjoyment from everyone out (though im sure the copious ammounts of alcohol may have had a lot to do with it!!).
Now im happy at home with my babies, would rather spend my money on them, mind you next year id like a bloke to snuggle up with too please!!!0 -
When i was a child i used to have to take a lump of coal and a piece of bread to our next door neighbours house at the strike of twelve, in through the front door and out through the back signifying warmth and nourishment i assume
i loved it. I was also amused to see my mum and dad have a sherry and a kiss
the only time they drank or indeed kissed in front of me
when i grew up i went to some great parties spending weeks choosing just the right outfit :T:T After my divorce I spent many years as a single parent and with the children in bed i shed many a tear and found new years eve a sad time with no one to celebrate the coming year
but have for the last three years spent new years eve with my lovely man, we watch jools and toast in the new year, nothing fancy but i couldn't think of anything i'd rather do :T it's not what you do it's who you do it with

Hi Divadee, Didnt want to read and run ... why dont you look for another job? Sounds like your new job is causing you the stress and making you feel 'a failure'.
Hope that you feel better and Good luck with possible job hunting.0 -
Its just another night only if you head out you are paying twice as much into clubs, twice as much for taxis, waiting twice as long for a drink etc etc... Just a waste of money. I sit in and watch moviesGerard

Myself and partner were in bed reading a few hours before the bells and never realised it had stuck midnight. We're both in our 20s and really hate this notion of you must get wrecked etc. Just another excuse to get pished. I also don't think it's such a big deal here in Scotland these days as it was.0

We were in bed before midnight too, but couldn't sleep and then eventually the inevitable fireworks went off. I went downstairs to see how our kitty was and he was cowering behind the TV so he came up to bed with us...and kept us awake lol
We made an effort to dust off a recipe book and cook something nice for ourselves and it was much nicer than going out.0
