My 2 year old loves fireworks, so I hope there aren't too many or I'll never get her to sleep!Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

I'm not doing anything this year. Will probably be tucked up in bed by 10pm by myself. As another poster said, there is just too much pressure. It's a little but like why I am bah humbug about Christmas... Can we just not enjoy time with our friends and family without "having" to have best time ever!!Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

It is exactly what you want it to be just like christmas.
i am off to my bessy mates house where pjs will be donned and copious amounts of wine will be drunk. We are buying in food to save any hassle and fully intend to enjoy our time together and see in 2013
We did momentarily consider hitting the town....but that didnt last long :rotfl:
The only down side of NY for me is it signifies going back to work very very soon
So the point for me is a good reason to spend time with friends0 -
I wonder if those who'll be setting off fireworks at midnight would mind if on new years' day I stood under their bedroom window armed with a ladle in one hand, saucepan in the other.
At 9.30AM I'll be introducing the ladel to the saucepan for about five minutes.0 -
We normally have a big party to celebrate but we've got an eight week old baby this year. I'll be taking in the bells at my mums with all my family but no alcohol for me as I'm breastfeeding then I'll be taxiing everyone home. It's different but I wouldn't have it any other way:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0

This will be my first new year alcohol free since I started drinking - OH and I looked at how much we have eaten and drunk in the lead up to Christmas and beyond and it's not great so we're cutting back and getting back into our healthy living regime which fell by the wayside a few months back.
Also, the pub we'd normally go to for new year is run by people we know so there's even more pressure to drink alcohol and I can't be bothered. People seem to get funny if you want to stick to soft drinks.
So, OH and I are going to the cinema today to see Life of Pi, and have bought some food as I'm making some Gino Di Campo food this evening. Really looking forward to it
I tend to feel sad at Christmas/New Year as my father died when I was young. I miss him all the time, but this time of year tends to hit it home. So staying in and avoiding people who say you SHOULD have a good time is fine by me0 -
While I don't hate New year, I do wonder what all the fuss is about.
We used to go to parties many years ago but now we tend to be in bed before midnight.
At least it means all the Christmas stuff is over and I can put the decs away and clean up properly!0 -
Not bothering with it. My only good NYE was wandering around Lake Windermere in the snow when the clocks struck midnight a few years back. That was kind of awesome. I'll just be asleep by half ten, same as every night.0

I am having my Mum, Dad, 2 Nans and Grandad round and my OH and 2 children will be here. I am 28 weeks pregnant so no drinking for me but I am doing a buffet, sparklers and champagne at midnight. I love having everyone important to me here. My grandparents are all in their 80's and I know they won't be here forever, so to have them all together to wish in a New Year is lovely.
Hope everyone has a nice night, whatever they are doing. xxxPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000
There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.0
