  • I have had another bumper week of UUs, but alas I think the splutterers are about to come to an end so this may be my last update for a while:)

Aubrey Rosa Mosqueta Moisturising lotion - received to test for BB. WNBA as did not like the smell
Loreal Mithic Oil - WNBA as did nothing for my frizzy hair
Avon Anew Brightening hand cream - WNBA as left a greasy residue on my hands
Lush Snow Fairy Shower gel - WBA already have a couple of bottles in the stash though
Tresemme luxurious moisture shampoo and conditioner - WMBA if it was on offer, but have tons of shampoos in the stash and if I ever need to buy anymore I would like to try Paul Mitchell as it is not tested on animals
No7 Base coat nail polish - WNBA
Bliss foaming face wash - WNBA as no better than soap and water
Elemis pro collagen body cream - WMBA as it left my skin feeling nice and soft
    Have a great week everyone:j
    Plans for 2017:
Use up 150 make up and toiletries products 0/150)
Lose weight - target 28lbs
    Competition wins 2017 - Dermo28 Youthmas Skincare Set :j
  • Hello everyone!

I know it's the latter end of the month, but does anyone mind if I join in?

I need to get the toiletry/makeup habit under control.

Not in a position to list my stash at the moment though - I barely know what I have, hopefully this will motivate me to look before I buy though!
  • I'm debating whether or not to chuck out stuff that's past it's shelf life. what are your opinions? I've been reading some stuff that says it could have bacterial growths in them that could cause a reaction. Make up powders I think should be fine. othere stuff I'm tempted to chuck out.

How long have you had them and where do you keep your makeup?

I use common sense. If it smells bad, it's gone. Mascara get chucked on every seasonal solstice (look out the first day of spring), It works out to about every 90 days. Powders? Common sense again. Discoloured, dried out, or smells dodgy = gone.

There are products now to wipe off your coloured cosmetics to "sanitize" them. But I'm baggered if I can remember what they are called.

You have just me think roguey - I have lots of essential oils that I was given one year in a gift set. They smell lovely but I don't really know what to do with them?! Excuse my dimness!!

I assume it would be nice with a few drops of them in the bath or added to a plain body lotion. What other suggestions do people have?

In a bath is nice but be careful to mix with something that will help it disperse, milk will work or some bath foam. Essential oils can just sit on the water and whilst some are fine neat on the skin (lavender and tea tree), some can be highly irritating to the skin if not used in a dilute way.

If you are going to mix with a body lotion or shower gel then make sure you don't use more than 2.5% essential oil in your mix.

There's some ideas of recipes on this website and am sure you could find many elsewhere too.

Please be aware if you are pregnant there are some essential oils that are not safe to use and they recommend not using any at all in the first trimester.

I don't want to scaremonger, essentials oils are lovely and most of my favourite products include them. However, if used in the wrong way they can do more harm than good. I've studied a bit of aromatherapy with Neal's Yard but I still consult books when making any blends to ensure what I am doing is safe.

I dyed my hair for the first time today! I used the Clairol Perfect 10 - good stuff :) Any tips on good brands, techniques etc anyone? I'm in my twenties, but have a couple of greys on the sides :( I dyed my whole head but probably could have got away with some more strategic placement of dye - any tips would be much appreciated!

Thanks indiepanda, some helpful tips. Yes I was a bit concerned about using them properly as I had read that they can irritate your skin etc. I will have a look at that website you have posted.
    Thanks!
  • UU mud mask - this was a trial bottle so not sure what it was, did make my skin feel clean.

UU S&G hair conditioner WMBA like the smell and does make my hair soft but think its to strong a scent for my scalp.

Your mentioning of steam cream has reminded me I have some so have dug it out as I have dermatitis on my wedding ring finger, I have tried so many creams but its not shifting. Feel naked with no wedding ring lol.

thanks wondercollie. I've been on a rampage and chucked out serum, eye cream, moisturiser, toner, cleanser, body lotions and body butters. a few shower gels that I wasn't sure about went into an empty handwash bottle. I always replace my mascara regularly. I store my make up in my bedroom which isn't cool.

I'm now short of mascara, face mask, serum and toner. guess I can make use of all those no7 vouchers now!
