No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries in January 2013

My face is ok as I apply oil as well as moisturiser at the moment although I've getting a couple of milia which I suspect is from the Elemis clenaser. Am trying to apply smaller doses as the "prescribed" amount that comes out with each pump is too rich.
I sometimes use an oil at night but have tended to avoid during the day for fear of looking too shiny. I think I'll have to take that chance while it's so cold, definitely rather look a bit shiny than like I did this morning - felt like I'd got a few years older overnight! Face feels much better now anyway, the oil really helped.
I've been carrying around handcream with me and reapplying fairly frequently so my hands aren't too bad, cuticles could do with some oil though - think I'll do the oil / cream and cotton gloves routine while watching the TV tonight - looking forward to the new series of Call the Midwife.0 -
kiplingmonkey wrote: »Maddiemay - you mentioning Steam cream reminded me - they were selling it off for £2.50 a pot in my local Boots - I didn't buy any as I have been given some as a present in the past so have some to use up in my stash. The tins were cute - I read that someone uses a Lush shampoo tin for cotton wool pads on weekends away - thought the Steam Cream pot may be suitable for that too - may have to find it in the stash and start using it.
I use the Lush shampoo tins to put cotton pads in for travel - works very well at keeping them nice and clean.0 -
We have a snow day tomorrow! YAY!!!
I'm going to take the opportunity to pamper myself and perhaps tidy and declutter the house.
Today I've TA 5 nail polishes that I'm never going to use again and GA: I've put 2 brand new FCUK products into the charity bag I've been putting together. They came as part of a gift set for Xmas but I know I won't use them because they don't seem good quality and I don't like the smell...Decluttering 2015: 2162/20150 -
I'm debating whether or not to chuck out stuff that's past it's shelf life. what are your opinions? I've been reading some stuff that says it could have bacterial growths in them that could cause a reaction. Make up powders I think should be fine. othere stuff I'm tempted to chuck out.0

Oh Roguey - huge huge hugs.
Thank you lovely. I've managed to sort my end of the issues out but I have some difficult choices to make now.
I've two UUs this evening
Pantene ice shine shampoo 400ml
Umberto Gianni blow dry spray mini 50ml
I WMBA the pantene ice shine, I've used it before and it's fine but would only buy it on offer. Plus i have my eyes on something far more expensive. On to Herbal Essences volume shampoo which is the last in the stash.
The umberto gianni blow dry spray is an HG for me - I get volume and style that holds for two days or so, without any stickiness or the crispy feeling you get with mousse. I will definitely buy again, but am going to work my way through the mousse and hairspray I have left before buying anything else.
I've put together my own oil blend as a body oil tonight, needed something soothing. Put together rosewood, neroli and sweet orange with 20ml base oil. I have so many aromatherapy products and a few duplicates of oils, that I plan on making more blends to break up the monotony of other products when I want a change.0 -

You have just got me thinking roguey - I have lots of essential oils that I was given one year in a gift set. They smell lovely but I don't really know what to do with them?! Excuse my dimness!!
I assume it would be nice with a few drops of them in the bath or added to a plain body lotion. What other suggestions do people have?0 -
Part of my massive Boots order arrived yesterday and there's still more to come. I had hoped that when I saw it all I would want to return some of it, but it's not happening! The only item I'm not sure about is the pink pepper and fig (I think) set. A couple of people have said it smells horrible but I don't want to open it to smell it if I think I might be returning it. Also it's 2 big glass jars which will be a pain to store.
I'm totally confused about what they've done with my orders anyway. There were 3 in total and the 1st order was supposedly despatched first but there is no sign of it. I got an email today to say one of my orders was being delivered yesterday and a text to say an order that had already been delivered was being delivered next week! They've cancelled a couple of the items and I'm convinced some of the others will not turn up.
I need to hide all the booty before my son comes tomorrow but I also need to check everything. There should have been 5 boxes yesterday but I only got 4, although I only signed for 4.
This has been more trouble than it's worth! The Boots sale thread is still going on with lots of people having had problems. I've got 2 birthdays this week so at least that will be 2 outs - not telling you how many ins I have though! :eek:3 stone down, 3 more to go0
