hello everyone, hope the snow isn't causing too many problems. I am sick of it now and really wish it would disappear, it's no fun doing animals when its like this, everything is so much harder.
I have no more UUs to report, but neither do I have any INs so that is good :T
Life is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.

Looking at my own signature, I notice that I have now done this challenge for 3 years. My stash is not massive anymore but I keep going with this challenge because I find this thread really friendly and I enjoy reading about your reviews on products. Also, it's stops me from spending since I now think carefully before buying. I have incorporated the same philosophy with other products such as tea, candles, clothes. I now also have over £100 in my latest pot saved from this challenge.

Good luck to you all with this challenge and have a nice weekend.

Well the official line is that it restores the skin's PH after cleansing I believe. I stopped using it for about 6 months, but honestly feel it is better for my skin to use it. I have an ageing/dryness problem, my HG is LE Instant Boost Skin Tonic, and I feel it adds an extra boost of moisture which I then seal in with serum and moisturiser. It might be worth doing a month on/month off trial, I don't know your skin type, but my feeling is that all skin needs moisture.

Any other recommendations out there for an alternative to LE? There seem to be so many types of Toner around!

    Two UU's
Liz Earle Superbalm WNBA, it may be because it has been around a while, but cannot use it near my face, brings me out in red blotches (the original one did this). Used it up on cuticles.

Cutex Nourishing Hand and Nail Cream 30ml. WBA (when hand cream mountain used). Does the job nicely and not sticky.

I've never found an alternative to LE IBST either although I do like the Elemis Lavender toner but this is dearer.

Was it the small pot of Superbalm you have maddiemay? I find these tend to go off really quickly. I have one on the go at the mo and it smells funny. Am only using it on my cuticles though.

This post got me wondering how long I've been following this challenge. I think I have cracked my toiletry fetish and do think carefully before I buy anything now.

For example I was going to treat myself to the L'Occitane TSV coming up on 10 February but have decided against it. On st.com they are saying the kit will be called "Home and Away" and contains 3 full sized and 3 travel sized. Full sized are shower gel, soap and hand cream. I was trying to justify buying this kit because I need liquid soap and hand cream and thought I'd compromise with the bar but then realised I would just be adding more to the stash because of the little bottles (I'm sure I've still got some L'occitane minis anyway) and I also have a full sized cherry blossom shower gel in there as well. My mind was made up not to get this after my shower this morning when I used my Decleor herbal clay mask and it made a spluttering sound so would rather replace this than buy the TSV.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

UU a Simple toner. Not sure if i will buy again - do we really need toner?

I have very dry, sensitive skin and have never found a toner that didn't upset my skin. I tried rosewater and glycerine and found it rather yukky. I just use a damp cotton wool pad to make sure all the cleanser has been removed.

    Another UU to report:

    Colagate toothpaste.

I have a record of my stash on a spreadsheet which I put together at the start of the month. It's colour coded and items which are unopened are marked red, the ones in use are in yellow and the UUs are in green.

I also have a column for each month of the year and I'm just beginning to realise how long some products last, buying stuff and letting it pile up in the bathroom was fine, I've never really been in the shower and had something run out on me and didn't have a replacement. But now seeing how long some products do actually last when I have marked on the spreadsheet when I started using it and seeing a month later that it's still in use and going nowhere fast!

Hopefully it will prevent me buying a load of products on offer when I can see the stash I intended to buy would probably last me 2 years and is not necessary.

i had two massive spray bottles of the Avene spring water in my stash so i decided to use those as a toner when my IBST ran out to use them up once and for all, i figured its just a quick swipe of something relatively PH neutral and refreshing so would do the job . tbh, i haven't seen a difference from using the LE or those and at half the price, i think i might just stick with these in future!
