It's on the ONS website. I've posted it here before.
What does childless young mean? under 65? obviously not under 22.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. To be honest with you for at least the last three decades the governing parties have not done a very good job at governing at all, many times you could say that they were not always totally to blame. Outside forces can change overnight and send you into another direction.
Although on hind sight they should have forseen many of the problems looming on the horizon before they were hit by them.
My point is that where you win with a small majority how can you be expected to have the strength to succeed. It would be great if the electorate of our country took a little more time before abstaining from voting to accept that by not voting they are not doing themselves or their country any favours at all. Then they shout from the rooftops about how bad the Government is performing. We have all met them and they will always be there to annoy us.
We got what we voted for that is accepted but what a mess we are in as a result.
yes, new statesman has a piece tonight to say ian duncan smith is in a terrible mess over trying to impose a strivers tax whilst attempting welfare cuts - apparently he is going to apologise for confusion by putting the 1 per cent rise back in a few days
the deficit between it and coalition revenue is widening for sure - baffles me where their 'income' is coming from to fill void....

Liam Byrne is now using this statistical quote:-
Those are the people this government wants to cover the cost of their failure whilst 8,000 millionaires receive a tax cut worth an average of £107,500.
Haven't a clue where the figure is being derived from.

            thanks for finding quote!
I was busy looking for another one (apparently there's child benefit chaos, as the coalition fail to show competence when actually trying to deliver the ir bright ideas! Telegraph will cover it tomorrow anyhow -targeting this is going to prove highly visible contortions- in efforts to somehow cut the deficit.0

Knew I had seen it somewhere;)
I must admit I thought it was another thread when I dropped it in:o"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Everything suddenly looks so weird in the West this new year week ref millionaire tax cuts - voters will be curious about the Americans voting to do the opposite of what osbornes doing here to cut their deficit... and their economy is growing and recovering!! I cant remeber a similar fiscal political sea change like this - I wonder if it will turn out to be the story of the year? Osborne better be grinding away ,working on his figures and answers (some would say 'excuses' ) 0 ) 0

Osborne seems to be in a position of 'no win' if he continues to believe that his chosen direction is working to get us back on track.
Maybe he is going in the right direction, but needs to change lanes because he seems to have dropped from the slow lane to the crawler lane, maybe he is blaming leaves on the carriageway.0

Instead of following Obama's lead....what Osborne has done is depress everyone into doom and gloom and a fear that we are one step away from being like Greece. A great way to boost public confidence....not! He is also discriminating against people who claim any sort of benefit, or those of us who provide public services etc. As always the ones who suffer most are those least able to cope. The increasing social division will inevitably lead to an increase in crime and an erosion of quality public services.....same old tories!DecentLivingWage wrote: »Everything suddenly looks so weird in the West this new year week ref millionaire tax cuts - voters will be curious about the Americans voting to do the opposite of what osbornes doing here to cut their deficit... and their economy is growing and recovering!! Yes, as Obama said ' we can't just cut our way to prosperity'
I have a hunch that will be the mood music up to 2015 and Osborne will be in the wrong groove compared to everyone else - I bet the Dem win was a cold-water shock to him and Cons - fascinating how it will pan out. Very interseted in the whole US deficit vs Uk deficitthing - I think it deserves a thread of its own so we can monitor?0

The Telegraph put it this way...
“The problem is that policy is being run by two public school boys who don’t know what it’s like to go to the supermarket and have to put things back on the shelves because they can’t afford it for their children’s lunchboxes. What’s worse, they don’t care either.”
If this quote came from Vince Cable it could safely be dismissed as the peevish mutterings of a typical Lib Dem malcontent doing his damnedest to tar the Conservatives as a party for the spoiled, remote, arrogant rich.
But it doesn't come Cable, it comes from truest of blue Tory backbenchers Nadine Dorries. And Dorries is absolutely right: under Cameron, Osborne (and with able assistance from yet another millionaire ex-public schoolboy Nick Clegg) the Conservatives really have become the party of the spoiled, remote, arrogant rich. So much so that it makes you wonder why anyone on an income of less than £200,000 a year would even consider voting for them.
Don't get me wrong. I have no problem whatsoever with Cameron's £4 million plus property portfolio, nor to Gideon "Despicable" Osborne's vast wallpaper inheritance, nor yet to Nick Clegg's estimated £1.9 million net worth; still less do have any issue with the fact that they were all superbly educated at Eton, St Paul's and Westminster. But what I do seriously object to is the effect this cushion of comfort has on their policy-making.
As Dorries correctly observes – and no matter how many ludicrous photo shoots Cameron arranges in order to be caught shopping at the fish counter of his local supermarket for sea bass, just like all the ordinary folk do – Cameron and Osborne (and, though she didn't mention him, Clegg) simply have no idea how badly this recession is treating those struggling middle class families who constitute their core vote.
Dorries is also right about this: they really do not care.
I think that when the truth hits the fan, it is not so easy to hide away from your own mistakes but there does come a time that you have to admit to them, from whatever party you may support.
I can hear a voice saying 'go away you stupid little man' maybe not quite as polite as that.0
