  • Were we meant to get something additional at Christmas..?
  • I appreciate the answers on here regarding EESA as it's happened to me too...in support group/contributions based...and an extra weekly payment on NYE. Mind you I didn't get paid my Christmas bonus this year so have got to ring them to find out where that disappeared to!
  • Hi-Im new-and came here by literally using Google to see who else got a strange ESA payment suddenly, and it would appear everyone has ! I have no idea what is going on either-I thought that they would write to us if there was any changes-so I am assuming-it will level out and is just a "blip" of some sort due to bank hols etc.

    LOx

I was meant to get paid on the 11th of Jan though got half of it today.

The only logical explanation I can find is that Jobcentre thinks that being on benefits we must be totally incapable of dealing with budgeting over Christmas and New Year so this is probably just to tide us over after the big yuletide overspend (you know - our plasma tellies, holiday cruises and whatever else we are supposed to be having). ;-) They probably think it will save them time with crisis loan applications.

I remember that in my last job salaries were normally paid at the end of the month but the January salary came in a week early to soften the blow of five long weeks with no income, maxed out credit cards and decreasing overdraft (the Christmas salary came in early too).

I just telephoned and got a very sarky woman with attitude. She said and i quote "It was a computer error. There's nothing we can do about it and we only found out when people started telephoning us. people will get one week on their proper payday." No apologies etc.

You want an apology for being paid early? :p

Perhaps its a christmas bonus. I hope they dont claw it all back.
  • I too got a weeks pay a week early ...some one said it was a computer error ..not sure that it is ..I was due my normal ESA on Boxing Day but it was paid a week early..I wouldnt normally be due a payment til the 9th...but I think theyve given us 1 week payment because its a long gap between the week before Christmas and the 9th January...there will be people out there already very short of money....nothing has hit the news about computer errors or problems with benefits ...if youre at all worried leave it in your bank until your normal pay day and see what you get..
  • So glad I found this Forum I too got this strange 1 week payment and was worried that I would now have to wait until the 15th for the next and this would throw my budgeting right out of sync. So if we get another weeks payment on 8th Jan then all will be right in my world
