Just checked my bank account on line and I will be paid as normal on the 2nd Jan for full amount. But I guess the authority has to be done before the 1st as that is a bank holiday for everyone. What I do not get though is why lots of people are getting theirs over a week early, even if it is only half of what is due to be paid. There is something odd going on with the DWP and their systems.0

This also happened to me. I was very surprised when a weeks ESA turned up in my bank account. First of all I thought it was a mistake but realised it was exactly half of my ESA payment ..ah the joys of living on benefits !!0

Hi there,
Don't worry, I was paid for one week early instead of two also.
However like you I got worried that they had changed my payment or made a mistake.
This 2 week payment deal has got me all mixed up (much better when it was monthly).
I think it's because we were paid early before Christmas and New year.
I was going to call them in the morning but since you have had thee same thing happen, it must be genuine.
No doubt they will be getting thousands of calls tomorrow!.
Hope this helped.
Take care.

Same situation here, except paid half of my ESA money (1 weeks worth) a week early on the 2nd January when I'm due to be paid 2 weeks worth on the 9th January. With Asperger Syndrome I was extremely worried in case something had gone wrong with my payments and it caused me a lot of anxiety (if anyone knows about Aspergers they will understand why - especially since it's a change to my routine). Also I was very concerned as if I hadn't got another payment for 2 weeks from now it would have completely messed up my budgeting as I have a large bill to pay on the 9th when I would normally get 2 weeks payment, so I'm glad to read that this isn't the case.
I think it's extremely bad to pay people early without even a notification as some people who cannot budget will spend it early and will be out of pocket later, while some won't even realise they've been paid early and will spend it all thinking they have more money than they really have until it's too late when they can't pay their bills from just 1 weeks pay the following week, it really isn't good enough. Since it's entirely their mistake I think they should help people with crisis loans who spend their money early and are in trouble, although I doubt they will. Luckily I noticed it today and I'm now disciplined enough not to spend it early, but I will still be somewhat anxious to see another weeks money go in okay on the 9th January as now expected, but this forum thread has certainly made me feel much better knowing that it's not only myself effected. A BIG THANK YOU!0 -
I got a weeks payment of EESA today, when it's not due till next week, so I too am grateful for the info on this thread.0

so is the general consensus that this was a one off glitch and that we will be paid one week around the 8th..?
I could use the money so I am not complaining!0 -
i got a one week payment this morning which confused me greatly. but before calling to check what was happening i checked my bank statements. it seems i got an additional 2 weeks payments over xmas.
i got my usual payment on 29 Nov, then again on 13 Dec (with the additional xmas payment) THEN another 2 full weeks worth on 21 Dec and 1 weeks worth today... this is slightly worrying as it's meant i spent much more than i thought over xmas as i'd not noticed that additional payment. eeek. may be worth checking your accounts to see if you've already had a double payment also0
