    Ohh, does that means we're famous? :o

    I also try to put a small amount away each month for Xmas. Did manage to get a few bits in the Sales last year too so not stressing about it all...yet :eek:

    Went clothes shopping at the weekend with DM - but with a very good excuse as it was my birthday. However, did find myself saying quite often

    Me; It's nice but I don't need it
    DM; but do you want it?
    Me; I'm not sure
    DM; I'm offering to buy it for you
    Me; but I don't need it - I'm not very good at I Want am I?

    Just found this thread again after looking at the Money Mnatra - been terrible at defining a need rather than a want i.e. I need an electric hand whisk to make cakes (do I really lol) its a want as I want to make cakes i don't need to make cakes. Anyways 2014 thought it would be good to revive this thread for January - my wants vs needs for Jan 14 are;

    1) Want: to go sales shopping - so not going not a penny spent in the sales so far go me
    2) Want: to wear make up to work - I dont need to so this morning ive come in bare faced
    3) Want: to get my haircut - this has turned into a need as a few people have commented on how "trampy" it has started to look oops - Ive gone for a compromise will get it cut in February as January is save save save month x

    Has anyone got any other ideas on the needs vs wants - really need to start cutting down again if i want to meet debt free target of may 13 this year!

    Do you not have any curtains at the moment? You can rig up a cheap 'curtain' with a bit of dowling and a cheapy fleece blanket.

    That is such a good idea! I need a front door curtain to stop the drafts coming in from the cat flap, just for the winter.... going to do this on Saturday :T

    Baking your own cakes is much cheaper than shop bought, plus I think they taste better too and it least you know what's going in it!

    I bought a very basic electric whisk from Asda for £10. It can't do anything heavy duty like dough or pastry but can handle pancake mixture, whisking cream (I hate doing this by hand!) and cake mixes :T

    Hmmm maybe I do that whisk then after all - I'm going to put some money away and if this hasn't been spent by the end of the month will get it - we have enough cakes/chocolate/biscuits left over from Christmas so will make do until we have run out!

    Just been over to Boots and seen all boxed presents - very tempted to get the Birthday presents for the year now - but im sure that they have a 75% off on the 2nd week of Jan so will be keeping my eyes peeled for that first see if i can get those Birthday presents even cheaper!
