Mini - you could just have a wash and cut without the (expensive) blowdry - or wash your hair before you go and just have a wet cut.

Yeah, there is a hairdressers about 250m from me, but they're still £12 just for a cut! My hair dries really fast, so it's harder to go further afield. I've been looking out for hair academies, but there don't seem to be any in my town.

Do any of your local salons have offers on, some do mid-week deals or offers for people that are willing to be models.

Or, you could have a look in your local paper / yellow pages for mobile hairdressers - these can often be cheaper as they don't have such high overheads as premium salons.

btw, £12 for a cut isn't expensive, most of the local barbers round here charge £15 for a gents cut as standard.

Really £15 for a barber? I thought most guys were a fiver! in the grand scheme of it, £12 isn't much, but I feel like it's a waste to spend money on a trim, which is a mindset I can't get out of. I'll see if I can find a travelling hairdresser maybe, never thought of that!

If you feel its a waste then why do it? Wait until your hair is such a mess the trim no longer feels a waste! Depending on your hair type you may be able to go months between cuts.

I'll usually go years between professional cuts (when I want a re-style) and I get my Mum to give it trims, but I now live quite far from home, so won't see her for another few months at least (was too busy the last time I visited). I have quite fine hair, which means it should be cut regularly, but even still, it's been 6-7 months since I last went to the hairdressers. There are just always things I would rather spend the money on...
