Took kids & DH to cinema today. Came to grand total of £5 for 4 tickets & the £1 bag of popcorn from Mr T that I'd taken with us (along with water). DH felt bad we'd taken our own food, but he seems to be getting over it!

The first time I said to OH I was going to pop my own popcorn in the microwave and take it with me, he thought I was joking :rotfl: I do love the nachos with cheese at the 0deon though, but only have those as a treat as OH likes the ones with salsa and always has the combo deal which makes my eyes water - but it is a small price to pay for the like of two hours watching 007 :D Unfortunately i haven't yet worked out how to make my own version of home made nachos with the warm cheese sauce to take without making it bleeding obvious I'm taking food in (hmmm wondering if i could get cheap tortillas and warm up some of the doritos cheese dip in the microwave...)

So...um...where DID you hide the popcorn then? Was it some form of an Essex boob job?

When we went to see Skyfall (big treat, we don't often go to grown up films!), we planned to go for a nice meal first (pre MSE). The restaurant was closed though due to a power failure and others packed, as a result. Our date night supper ended up being a bowl of chips, a bottle of beer and a small bottle of rose wine in Ike@. Was actually really fun!

:rotfl: nope, I have a handy bag that i don't really use any more, but is just the right size to take a bag of popcorn (put the popped bag in a carrier) - slightly strong aroma of popcorn whenever I take my purse out to pay but luckily being the cinema no one notices :D

And you can always cough as you open a can of (smuggled) coke too!!

Cinemas make the vast majority of their profit from snacks.

That's what irks me, I'd be far more inclined to go more often and buy more food there if it was more reasonably priced.

The fact that it costs the same (if not more) for me and OH to have two nachos and a pepsi as it does for two tickets to the film just results in me not buying anything there and I'm not alone. The cinemas are actually just doing themselves out of business.

Last time Mr Wyrm and I went out (admittedly back in the age of black and white practically) we were shocked to find that two tickets to our local cineworld were nearly £30. That didnt even count any snacks, or dinner first etc.

So, we gave it a miss. Came home with a bottle of wine, some big backs of crisps and watched several of the hundreds of DVDs we have.

That was one of our recent 'anniversaries'. Shame really, since it was one of those rare occassions we had managed to get rid of the little Wyrms.

That's why we don't often go to non-kid films Firewyrm. We would have the cost of a babysitter on top of that too.

We're happy to wait for most films to come out on our DVD rental package. James Bond however, requires the big screen (as does The Hobbit if we get round to it)! :-)
