  • Thrifty - any chance you may have stumbled across a vain attempt at a Zombie Apocalypse and the snow thwarted the pesky biters from getting too far..? Any of 'em snap at you when you walked passed..? Just wondering.... :p ... may I suggest carrying a spade with you next time, doubles up as a great way to dig your way through the snow AND smash a few zombie heads in.

    MancMan - get to where ever Thrifty lives and "rent a biter" - that should improve your running skills and drop a couple of pounds!..:T

    I am hoping against hope, with my fingers crossed,wishing on a star and my eyes tightly shut that snow drifts will push in from the Arctic ( or Scotland - whatever's easiest ), load up against my house, ensure all trains are cancelled so my boss doesn't think I am lying and remain thus deep for a week! Who's with me?? What better way to ensure a little weight loss, duvet time and NSD's all in one healthy package of doing nowt!!!

    I am so on edge at work I have been begging to go home for hours. Good thing my boss has a good sense of humour...

    Me = can I go home now
    Him = No
    Me = PLEASE
    Him = No
    Me = WHY NOT!
    Him = No response...
    Me = Oh come on! It's not like I have anything important to do
    Him = Do you want something to do?
    Me = No.

    Funny that's where the conversation ended. It's been a funny old day.Glad you are all having fun out there..

    I want regular snow updates and depth readings please... Winner for the most snow ( I can check on BBC weather remember ) - gets an NSD to add to their pile...:p:p:p

    Onwards and Upwards...( remember your blankets, flasks with tea and extra layers to keep warm )..

    I love snow....where is the snow?!?!?! I have two boxes of fleabay stuff thrown on my once almost tidy bedroom floor...the OH is going to go spare unless I stop reading MSE and actually do something with it! I've worked out which bits have been photographed so that's a start I guess. I'll pop the bits that haven't back in the wardrobe out of the way ;)

    Homemade wedges for tea tonight, wash & boil potatos, smash like you would roasties with olive oil and herbs in pan, place on baking tray and bake in the oven. Throw some peas & sweetcorn in the steamer, maybe some purple sprouting broccoli, and we've got these random veg bombs that need to be eaten that were bought from the market months ago now.
    Another NSD :D

    I agree - the trouble is I am the boss and have to make the decision - tempting to close come what may but answerable to thers - guilt all round!

    Just popping back to say that i resisted the urge to spend after weigh in (lost another 2lbs:j:j) so can officially report another NSD.

    Hopefully another NSD today here taking me up to 14. However BF had to borrow money for fuel :(

    The snow has arrived, but the sun is fighting through too. Lets hope the raods aren't too bad tonight.

  • The snow is here and it looks like it is here to stay, its settling and the cars in the carpark are covered....it took me an hour and 35 mins to do a 30 min journey home last night. Really need petrol but was hoping to not have to get any till next week still got a quarter of a tank.
    At least with it snowing so heavily today everybody should clock up an easy NSD although people will probably panic buying.
    Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow:cool:
    Have a good, safe day and safe journey home later everyone.
    Onwards and Upwards.

    Well I won't be winning any NSDs for snow - barely a dusting here despite forecasters predicting up to 15cms of snow for us.

    Payday today so can sort out my finances tonight. £50 for overtime too.

    Went shopping last night (instead of tonight) and the Sm was full of numpties panic buying as they were convinced they were going to get snowed in. Couldn't get quite a few things on my list, some shelves were bare. I just want to know who was stocking up on cheap passata, tinned tomatoes and mixed beans - can't make my soup for lunches next week now, grr!

    Vets tonight with the 2 littlest kitties. May treat us to a takeaway for tea if we get delayed, which we often do. Some people are so snotty to the vets if they have to wait because an emergency's come in but I just think one day that might be me and one of my kitties so I'm quite patient. Evening appoinments often run over though and if I don't get home til after 7, I'm not starting cooking then :)

    Well, its all looking rather positive in my world.........I will share my good cheer in the hope that everybody gets a little bit.

    Weight Loss......SW is working, lost another 2lbs, making 4.5lb in 2013! vv happy!

    I have an offer of 0% for 12 months so I can transfer my interest charging credit card balance, this makes all my credit card balances on 0%.......hoorah!

    NSD days are going well and I am hoping to reduce overdraft a tad at the end of January.

    AND its snowing.....and I like it when it snows!

    LEAVE THEM IN THE PACKET!!!!!!!

    they have full sets in poundland for £1...

    my BIL nearly had kittens when he realised...

    Thanks... but the one I needed was huge and you don't normally get them in the little sets (I could be wrong as I haven't seen the poundland ones).

    I've used cheapy allen keys before and I've found they don't last very long before they get wrecked and I end up buying the more expensive ones anyway. I'm happy with spending out on these (and have already used them anyway) but I appreciate sometimes cheap ones are fine.

    A frosty good morning to you all, how is everyone? I'm currently sitting in my PJs with the heater on deciding whether to go to the SM as planned or whether to have a duvet day (with maybe a walk to the local shop to buy some peppers and onions and spend the afternoon batch cooking!!). I've just cancelled around £70 worth of mystery shopping visits but, if I'm honest, with the roads like this, one bump and £70 worth of damage would be more than likely so I don't feel too bad declaring today a duvet day!

    It would be nice to have a day catching up with myself (and cooking enough to fill my freezer again - it's rather empty!). I could easily have a NSD as I have enough tinned tomatoes to survive the frost apocalypse so could knock up a pasta sauce and be happy. However, a walk in the snow to buy peppers and onions will mean I'll make good use of my time and be ready to re-enter civilisation with a full freezer!

    OK, so that's decided, today's not going to be a NSD!

    With today out of the equation, I can still declare 15 so I'm ahead of the game :)

    Stay safe everyone!!
