Searching_me Please may I trouble you for the slow cooker meatball recipe? I tried before and they all fell apart and we ended up with mince mush. Slow cooker is a funny one in our house, we're always on the look out for decent recipes. We're not fans of casserole and stew, anything veg heavy and 'sloppy' doesn't go down well(shame as it's easy and cheap!) So if anyone else out there has any decent recipes that aren't gravy based please send em over :j
I use it as an oven substitute. Cause obviously you wouldn't leave the oven on all day. So I make sticky ribs and porks roast etc in it and they come out just like in the oven sticky and crispy. Just google slow cooker roast or ribs etc.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
NSK- I'm 5'10 and athleticly built and have trouble with clothes not reaching where they should- so I can sympathise with you, most of my clotes are ancient but tend to be quite expensive for the fit. As for gym membership, why not take up walking or running. I've never been a member of a gym yet I manage to run (and even sometimes win:cool:) races and its keeps the weight off which tends to try and creep in once you get in your 30s0

We seem to have a few people losing lbs on here! I go to SW and amazingly managed to lose 2.5lbs over the New Year week.........!
I wonder if getting in control of debts goes hand in hand with getting in control of weight too? TAKING CONTROL!
Completely agree. I am also a SWorlder and have been for the last year since I had my twins. Ashamed to say that I only lost a stone over the whole of last year. Kept going up and down. Not SW plan not working just me not making the plan work for me. Didn't want to give up as I knew I would then just pile on the weight again, but just wasn't ready to completely take control. Start of new year is becoming a bit of an overhaul for our family really. I want to finally get to target weight (2st 1lb to go!), hubby and I want to finally feel in control of our finances instead of feeling that they are in control of us, and this combined with a bit more honesty about finances and communication bewteen us all should make for a much happier household. Kids seem to be on board at the moment and are trying hard to help out in whatever ways they can so feels like a real family effort - all pulling together for the greater good.:grouphug:

mayfair not a problem ... key to stuff like sausages, meatballs, burgers or anything like that its cook them or brown them off holds it together ...
my recipe: in SC throw in a tin of chopped toms, mixed herbs, my own seasoning like all purpose (all purpose is not for everyone one and can be left out but with me it goes in EVERYTHING and also goes well on chips as a sub for chip spice) hendersons relish/worcestershire sauce ... mix and leave while you brown the meatballs with some chopped onion ... then throw in the SC with the sauce stick it on low and leave ... all my herbs and spices are extras its all to taste really .. i believe you should taste it before serving then you can add and change to suit your tastebud ... also if you like a kick add a teaspoon or 2 of chilli..
EDIT: forgot to say to bulk it out i sometimes throw in a tin of beans or lentils ... but mainly tin of beans x
will have to be a spend day ... have to the shops later as i need milk bread and gas (running through loads of gas as my DS asthma has been playing up so cant let the house go cold as it sets him off) ... i shall report back on how much it all was once ive been xStill searching .....:)

Thank you :j but brace yourself, I have some silly questions.....
1. Meatballs - are the made from scratch? If so... how? Only again mine tend to fall apart or burn....
2. Beans to bulk? Baked beans?
I know.... I'm hanging my head in shame here but I really am a bit clueless0 -
All this talk of food is making me hungry. I have refused sugary treats for three days now.. including white bread, pasta and rice, crisps, chocolate etc... maybe I will celebrate with a MASSIVE fresh creamed finger donut with a large vat of tea...
Anyway Poodlegal I have some items at home I can train with ... a push-bike, kettle-bells, club-bells and Yogalates Dvd's... just not a lot of space. The roads by my house are national speed limit, pitch black with really bad surfacing... getting adequate lights will cost me £££... I have the weekend to think this through but I MUST lose weight pronto... walking is great but not the intensity I require and I banjaxed my knee so can't run.
Oh its nearly home time... cannot wait!.....( sleepy NSK....)“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0 -

Sorry to budge in (can you tell I'm slightly bored at work) I would use kidney beans or similar, not baked beans
I make my meatballs the following way and they stick together nicely (start frying on high heat then lower after a couple of minutes to prevent burning)
beef mince
onions, garlic, herbs, salt, pepper, mustard to taste
one egg to bind them
a few tbsp breadcrumbs to make them lighter
Also I only make them walnut size which helps them not falling apart

Never thought of that. Only started buying baked beans again as the wee man likes them and last bought them as a student. So I never thought of using them in anything, but you're right it's just beans in tomato sauce, might try that.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
