Scratch what I said earlier about 250 points x 4 being £10, it's actually £5 but better than sweet FA! You can do surveys too on nectar canvass I have just discovered.

And scratch what I said about trying to get to 500 - at 43 points and no more videos! Will check back tomorrow.

Thanks for the Nectar Canvass tip - will look there too.

Evening. You all sound very motivated, this is going to be fab! :D

Mr Purple has done a 'stocktake' of the items bought to sell so far and we now have a figure to call the capital invested in the new business which officially starts today. He will be declaring himself self employed this week and converting his ebay account to a business account - exciting stuff :T

We will use my ebay account to sell our tat - I have been listing stuff earlier and will get some more done later and relist some too. All on 5 day listings to come up on Sunday. Mr Purple has set us an additional challenge of listing 5 items per day each (min 35 per week) I love it! Relisting does not count towards the target. Will update later how many we manage today.

I have a new spending diary for us. Today was a NSD :j

Oh and did I mention we have given up alcohol for January

  • Hi everyone!
Today I sat my family on the table to speak about this challenge and what all encompasses. I actually asked my daughter to read the January challenge to us all and they appeared very impressed that my daughter wanted to join this forum but she is still young :-) In addition, we have explored a lot of family issues and each other's goals for this year and we wrote all in a paper and stuck it on the kitchen's wall. It has been a fruitful morning and I feel assured that my family too are by my side in this journey.

    Reporting my 1st NSD !

    I will succeed!

    No debts 🙌

Well today has been a spend day - we'd promised long ago to take the children to see Nativity 2 at the cinema on NYD so couldn't change that. However, did take the opportunity to explain to them not to bother asking for anything during January, and to enjoy all the wonderful things that they got for Christmas!

Have put 13 things on ebay this evening, although 9 of them are relists so don't hold up too much hope....we'll see.

Looking forward to not spending anything until next Monday when I go food shopping.

    Evening all!

What a lovely sunny day it has been today, we went out for a walk (instead of the sales) and did not have a coffee and bun out like we usually do. We came home and had a cuppa here. Hubby is on board so thats brilliant!

Did freezer/cupboard stock list and we have quite alot of stuff to use up so I'm hoping to streeeeetch it out as far as possible into January. I'm stuck for recipes for beans and pulses though of which I have loads to use! Need to do a proper meal plan tonight.

First NSD today - 24 to go!.

Signed up for Adpoints (thanks gelmc!) and was thinking of signing up to Swagbucks too. Also found 75p in change around the house so that's now in my pot!! I also lurked around Asda carpark last night on the way out of the store, but didn't have any luck. Maybe next time . . . . . .because the WILL be a next time!!

Over the summer I have sold most of our saleable stuff so my £155 will come from some overtime I have been asked to do in January.

I'm loving reading everyones exploits and am very excited to finally be doing something to shape our future!

    Off to update sig.

  • Happy New year. I had such good intentions and have fallen on day 1. Took oh to the shop cos he needed some bits and his card was declined. So i paid but he will pay me back. Is this a spend???
    LBM 2008 [STRIKE]£45,091.23[/STRIKE] eek: now £7889:T Debt free date 18/07/2018 :)
  • Feeling well chuffed, made a dog coat for next door neighbours dog for christmas and someone saw it and asked me to make 1 for them so £6 to add to my £25 already. It might sound daft but i feel really motivated at the moment, just need a few more orders and should be able to make a real dent in it.

This year i WILL have savings!
  • Evening all and happy new year!

Woke up this monring (afternoon actually, we got in a 5:30am ) feeling full of self inflicted hangover. Better than that I felt full of hope, happiness and promise for the coming year. The thought of waking up next year being debt free feels spanking fantastic. So I'd just like to thank you all for helping me find the motivation to take on the journey. Here's to getting this done together
So after going back to sleep and waking up at 3, hangover gone (for the best part) I got off my bum and assessed. And I'm over the blinking moon.

    Firstly - NSD no 1 :j
Secondly - £5.00 Amazon voucher from swagbucks cashed in today and a BIG, HUGE, MASSIVE rummage in the coats, draws, sofas and cars dragged up £7.59 in change. :j
Thirdly - The ebay items that finished today made a mahoosive total of £69.98. Over the moon! :j Still got more to finish late in the month but mostly re-lists so not holding much hope out on them.

A reccy of the freezer and cupboards has shown we've got plenty of food to be getting on with so no 'food shop' is needed this week. May need to pick up some potatos or pasta as we seem to have 'Main' bits in. I know that this is possibly a bend of the rules but I don't want to use two main components on one dinner, it's more mse for me to get something to go with it to s-t-r-e-a-t-c-h it out longer. Got lunches for the week ready to go, and found enough oats to kill a donkey. Plus the usual left over Christmas sweets and nibbles.

So today, for me, has been a flying and fan-blinking-tastic start to the challenge. I know it won't always happen like this but it's been a great feeling to get off to such a flying start. :T Long may it continue!!!!

Hope you're all having a fab day. And again, HAPPY NEW YEAR
