Wow, so many posts since i last posted! Well, 2 days left to work this week (I'm doing an overtime shift on Sunday). Work canteen is closed on Sundays which means I absolutely have to take lunch. Only thing is I won't have access to a microwave on Sunday so will have to make a sandwich or something. Don't want to go out and spend money on a sandwich filling when I usually eat homemade soup so think I will defrost and cook a piece of chicken and mix it with mayo. I have some bread in the freezer. But otherwise this week the parsnip and ginger soup is going ok. Getting a little bored of it having had it for 3 days so far but money is tight and the batch needs eating!0

What kind of things do you like for breakfast ?April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
Hiya vics and well done on the soup :T just think of the money you are saving. It's funny how things can become nicer when you feel like you're being rewarded especially when it's in a monetary way.
It's the last working day of the week for me tomorrow and I will have saved 23p so far because I spent money on ingredients at the start of the week. I need to buy bread but will get that tomorrow. I could get bread rolls for a change I'll see, just as long as I don't get tempted by chocolate cakes

1. A friend who loves pork pies cuts them into quarters and wraps in foil.
2. Before now I've made toast at home, quickly put a bit of butter between the slices, wrapped in foil and then eaten on the train. I did get some funny looks and one guy said where's mine?!
I'm loving the links there :rotfl: A lady I used to work with has a second facebook page where she posts up foodie things she's made and she makes her pack ups for her children look really fun with shapes etc
The toast - how long does it stay warm for? I have a 10 min drive to the station and I can eat it on the walk but how long does it keep warm in the foil for?April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
I have taken soup to work with me for the last two days in my secret santa microwavable soup mug. It wasn't homemade:o but the covent garden stuff which was half price at Mr S so just over £1 for two days with an apple from the fruit bowl and a yogurt. I think it has probably cost me about £1 a day for my lunches this week:jMake £10 per day in July £45.48/£310

Hey kittiej - if us lovely people list say 3 favourite lunches/sarnie fillings - could you add these to your first post? Then we could have a single ideas point when we're feeling a bit meh with ideas? We could add a symbol like this :A next to it to help identify them? No worries if not, just an idea. Thanks so much for this brilliant thread. It's going to help me moneywise and healthwise
Just remembered another idea. I used to buy wraps from Asda and fill with egg mayo, coronation chicken (sadly that filling is shop bought) and wait for it... onion bajis and coleslaw! I had one from a posh deli and thought wow that's lovely. Also with wraps they can have quite long life dates too. No idea if they're any good for Slimming World!Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Oh in that case MAM, I'll give it a go on Monday (looking forward to my granola and natural yoghurt in work tomorrow) - thanks! Amd very true - it's just 2 slices of wasted bread (unless I slap peanut butter on it as I'd eat it regardless then :rotfl:)
MAM, I love the idea of having lunch ideas up front - KittieJ if you plan to do this next month, I don't mind helping out with keeping lunches updated on the foint page if things get hecticApril 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -

I LOVE coronation chicken!! I do buy mine too, chicken does cost a fortune... That's my excuse..
A sure fave of mine is the cheesy pasta mug shot (green packet) Not sure who makes them, bachelors or knorr, and the other flavours arent so nice but that one I just love! Often you can get them 2 for a £1 at morrisons or sainsburys and they are enough to fill you up.
I'm not a massive sandwich fan so am always happy when i find something else I like!Full time working mum to 2 boys
