Thanks for adding me to the list kittiej :A I made a veggie rice concoction which lasted me for work for the last couple of days. I've got a cheese salad ready in the fridge to take with me tomorrow. My lunches haven't been very imaginative so far
so I think I'll have to have a proper read through this thread over the weekend and get some inspiration from all of the yummy lunches you all are making

I'm rubbish at making it the night before (or if I do I forget to take it) so I buy bread/cheese/crisps/whatever on Monday morning and keep them in my drawer at work and make them up at lunchtime.
I keep a jar of pickle and a jar of mustard there too (and butter in the fridge.) When the little pods of beans were on offer I bought some of those too, I'm building quite a store cupboard
At one point I was making hot scrambled egg sandwiches (egg and milk in a mug in the microwave.) They were yummy but the smell can be a bit antisocial!
My absolute favourite is cold sausage sandwiches with mustard if we ever have any left over.
OP, I've been quite good about not buying lunches for a while so no savings to be listed but I'll pledge no shop made sandwiches in JanuaryMake £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

Lol, that was completely random of me in that case wasn't it MAM? Sorry about that :rotfl:
I woke up late this morning and found the remaining pasta bake had ben eaten (that'll teach me not to presume, lol) so food for today is granola and yoghurt for breakfast, a cheese and pickle sarnie for lunch and anothe choc yule for a snack. I don't think the sarnie will keep me going all afternoon so I packed more granola and will eat breakfast as late as I can muster. I do still have my digestives (beaten up) in my bag from Wednesday if I want to eat my arm on the train home!April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -

So I can have a sausage roll, a cake, a chocolate bar and a packet of crisps etc. NOT all at once before anyone says anything lol. But if I get this lunch thing under control then I may well try getting some toast from the canteen instead as its like 37p for some toast!
Oooh yea I get the work canteen thing - their fry ups can be a real downfall for meApril 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
Good morning everyone, hope everyone is feeling bright and chirpy!
Hi dorajar you were lucky getting a pressy from Sants lol that's a fantastic effort keep going
MAM and Shortie, I think putting a list of fave lunches on the first page is an excellent idea and Shortie I would welcome the support so thank you very much for that kind offer. Maybe one of us could keep the list and one of participants and one of us the list of lunch ideas? We've got time to work out the finer details :A
I know this sounds a bit communist but this is a thread for the people who are interested, I don't see it as 'belonging' to me iyswim so we should all have the ability to have an input into how we want to see it being run - if that's what you want, otherwise just bob-a-long with us
Clairey, I'm wondering if coronation Quorn could be an idea? Just wondering if it's a bit cheaper than chicken. I might have a look for a recipe and try it. You have also raised the point (which I keep forgetting and I apologise) about not everyone likes sandwiches so we need to find something else, mind you a couple of posters have made some lovely soups.
Thanks for the tips penelopedee and Twiggy, those are really useful post. Maybe we could use some of these ideas on the list on the first post we will be compiling? Hope that's OK with you.
And Twiggy, banana sandwiches - yummy.
Skippycat, we need to know what went into your rice concoction as the rice based dish is something we could consider for lunches, ty.
FatVonD, welcome to the thread and thanks for the ideas :T, it's always nice to see what others are having for lunch. I hope you keep everything in plastic boxes etc where appropriate, I still can't get Shortie's office mice out of my mind
Shortie please don't eat your arm on the train, how ever would you make your lunches then? and you would have to ask someone to open your flask on the train :rotfl:
Have an outstanding day everyone, yippee, it's Friday :TKarma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -
Morning all,
Breakfast made (and eaten!) and lunch packed so I'm all set for another day of not buying lunch at work. I've saved almost £30 this week
I'm come to realise that I'm unlikely to contribute anything to this thread other than tell you I've made yet another ham sandwich! Cooking and recipes are not really my forte - hope this is ok.0 -
Hi Florida, well done for making yet another packed lunch and wow how much have you saved - go Florida :T
Actually you are incorrect when you say you only have 'ham sandwiches' to contribute to this thread, you are showing enthusiasm for making your breakfasts and lunches and showing us how much we can save so your posts are really valuable so please keep posting to let us see how well you are doing :jKarma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -
OK I have to get ready for the 'W' word but hey it's Friday so work isn't too bad today

Morning All,
I spent on lunches today, I already had quiche at work and was planning on bringing in salad to go with it. Unfortuntely I got up late and all the bins & reclycling had to go out so by the time I'd done that and had a shower I was too late to knock anything together as I have to leave bang on time to catch my train.
On the upside I spent £2.85 on salad, fruit & a yogurt.

Can I join too please? I work three days a week and try to take a sandwich or soup but quite often end up buying something to go along side what I have taken!:( Can you put me down for say £20 a month.
Thanks and good luck to everyone!Credit card debt £480- interest free until Aug 20140
