Are you seriously quoting the Daily Mail as a source of 'facts'? There's no hope...0 -
you will be treated as a couple, but get single rate of benefits...
therefore for CTC WTC ETC you will need to work 30/hrs a week etc.
you wont get child care help as he could look after the children.
for jsa, you will get single allowance.
for esa single allowance
for income support the same.
council tax will be payable in full,,, but again, single allowance... (they will pay only 50% of the bill - you will have to pick up the rest)
housing benefit, you will be on a single rate (with children so 2 bed? or however many you can get now)
you will financially be worse off, but able to work as he will be able to care for the children.
(personal experience - although not an asylum seeker, my wife had an is96 entry clearance... but no work, and no recourse)
chances are the home office will avoid bailing him to your address as it will increase his "family ties" etc... but its worth a shot?
but benefits will be effected (and he will be classed as in reciept of funds - therefore it will go against his asylum claim)0 -
"Asylum seekers do not come to the UK to claim benefits. In fact, most know nothing about welfare benefits before they arrive and had no expectation that they would receive financial support.
(Refugee Council, Chance or Choice? Understanding why asylum seekers come to the UK, 2010)"
But don't let the facts cloud your bigoted judgements.
Maybe then they should stop at one of the country's they pass through to get here then.0 -

no it doesnt...
it simply means that the border agency cannot remove you or attempt to, otherwise you have a valid claim for article 8 of the human rights ...
my wife is currently still has no leave to remain, and cannot work... we have been together for years, and have two children together...0 -

If you believe that you will believe anything. Britain is the soft touch of the world and as soon as it is stopped the better.
You also in another post berate a user for using the daily mail as a source but you link to the refugee council who are basically set up to make it even easier for refugees when they come here/to come here.
Do not get me wrong I do not believe the daily mail always on issues of immigration but I believe the refugee council even LESS0 -

Modern 'asylum seekers' can be found in car washes, delivering leaflets for pizzas and takeaways, or working in burger bars.
Modern asylum seeksers cannot be found in these places. Asylum seekers cannot work.
I find it quite shocking that you can claim to be an active member of a church when you can spout hatred of a group of individuals who have been through goodness knows what to arrive in this country. What sort of church do you go to?
I am pleased that the post about "not wanting to give the time of day to asylum seekers" has been removed. At least you have some shame.
The group to which you refer, working as leaflet deliverers are probably members of EEC countries who have left their home to find work. What is wrong with wanting to work?
Would you also not "give the time of day" to these people?
Who is it that you want to spout hatred on the most?
Given your ignorance about who is entitled/not entitled to work, then I would imagine that anyone who has a different skin colour, religion or lifestyle would be the butt of your hatred.
You are not a member of the BNP or any other loony nationalist party by any chance are you? If not you could always join this lot. They don't know who to hate either.

I didn't think asylum seekers were allowed to work...
they arent... but is this fair?
why should anybody prevent anybody from working#?
if my wife was allowed to work, she could have a job any day of the week...
my employer actually offered my wife a job on more than one occasion... but she is not allowed to work because UKBA wont allow it...
this is why asylum seekers claim benefits...0 -

If you believe that you will believe anything. Britain is the soft touch of the world and as soon as it is stopped the better.
"As noted earlier in this report there is a belief held by many policy makers, politicians and the public, that asylum seekers actively choose to come to the UK in preference to other potential countries of asylum and that this decision is based primarily on information that they have about the asylum system and the level of support to which they will be entitled. This has led to accusations that the UK asylum system is a ‘soft touch’.
This belief is not supported by the existing research evidence, much of which suggests that destinations are determined not by personal choices regarding particular qualities of life or ideals but by the practicalities and demands of the situations that individuals face having fled their homes as refugees.
The overwhelming finding of much of the existing research is that many asylum seekers are not aware of their eventual destination when they make the initial decision to migrate. Koser’s (1997) study of the reasons why Iranians went to the Netherlands to seek asylum found that in many cases the final destination was determined by the routes used by the agents to take them to Western Europe.
In these cases the respondents simply paid the agents to get to Europe and were unaware, often until they arrived, which specific country they were being taken to. Gilbert and Koser (2003) similarly found that many of the Afghan, Colombian, Kosovan and Somali respondents in their research had not chosen their own destination. The reason why they ended up in the UK was often linked to the role of agents, who often chose the final destination."

Professor Heaven Crawley or the Daily Mail? Tough choice, admittedly..0
