I am positive I will be grey by end of year, Ok, so whats the worse that can happen if you do go grey, I have pepper and salt hair, but 5 years ago I was going through chemo and had no hair at all

I am positive I will be worse off financially as cost of living continues to rise,
OK along with the majority of the population it means more belt tightening and positive that for the 5th year in a row my wages will not rise that too isn't great, but you at least at the moment have a job and positively certain they will fall with a new company taking over the contracts in February.also not great, but again if you have work that at least is a positive thing. My son-in-laws wages were cut with 'reorganisation' and it was a case of take what's offered, or on your way He has a mortgage and a handful of children so at the age 42 accepted what was offered as he couldn't afford to turn it down, it means my DD has to work full-time to supplement his money, and I too have to help out with childcare,we all pull together to help each other in difficult times./QUOTE]

I do hope that for you and many others in this situation things will improve. If by altering your mindset it helps a little to think with a positive outlook, most things can be turned around a bit
So all though things seem horrible and depressing do try to think, as a lot on here already have done about turning things around a little and trying to see the tiny ray of light ahead of you.I know this may sound trite, but I honestly do believe that out of the most awful things can come something better.
Even if its only doing something you never have tried before that small sense of achievement does give you a small boost in your confidence
Good luck to you in the coming year

Well said JackieO! I was skimming through this thread and noting my own Positivity ideas down when I saw lemontarts post and thought "Oh !!!!!!, get a grip and read the Thread Title again". Was going to reply with something along those lines but your reply was so much more pragmatic and supportive and - yes - positive! :T

I'm trying to come up with some tangible, measurable goals for myself as I find that nefarious statements like "Lose weight" or "get fit" don't motivate me much. So here goes (with thanks to the other posters who have inspired me:D):

    Stop eating bread
Swim once a week (using my new waterproof MP3 player - thanks Santa! :D)
Stop buying clothes & other odds 'n' sods I don't need*
Fill my £2 coin piggy bank rather than emptying & spending before it even gets half way
Tidy up my garden, e.g. give up on the hanging baskets 'cos they always die on me

    * Note to self - what do you mean by "need"??

    Happy 2013 everyone!

Evening all :) I've been following the thread since it started and thought i'd add my two-pennyworth!

The past 2 years have been difficult in many ways, health problems with the 2 littlest ones, my own struggle with anxiety and depression (stemming from the fear and worry for the kids), marriage problems, moving house etc plus the usual day to day life with a busy family.I felt dragged down with it all and lost a lot of my usual determination and motivation.

I am hoping that 2013 will be a fresh start for us all, we are lucky to now live in our 'forever' home, which we plan to stay in until the kids leave home then sell up and downsize for retirement. The house needs a lot of work doing on it, bit by bit as we go along and save up.

The kids have got a clean bill of health other than a few hiccups (DS asthma and DD2 reflux) but these are under control with medication. New Years Eve marked a whole year since DS had a fit, he has never gone so long without one in his life so touch wood he is outgrowing them or maybe we are getting better at catching him and getting his meds into him before he goes into one, i don't know. Whatever it is i am grateful and pray it continues :)

DH and I are making a real effort to communicate more and work as a team, not easy at times (his family cause a lot of problems) but it's a million times better than it was last summer, when i was ready to walk out with his selfish behaviour. He has made the effort to change his ways and put me and the kids first and we are all happier for it.

My health is up and down - i have Fibromyalgia and hypermobility syndrome coupled with my mental health issues (anxiety has greatly improved since DS is better) but i feel ok at the moment, and determined not to let the bad days get me down too much.

Our lovely DD1 passed the 11+ and will be starting at Grammar school in Sept, a fantastic opportunity for her and we're very proud. Uniform and school trip costs are  though so we're starting to put a bit of money to one side towards that.

So this year we have work on the house needed, DD1 starting secondary school and we've just had to replace our car plus all usual bills, food, petrol, clothes/shoes, school stuff, dancing and swimming lessons etc. All on one average wage

But i am feeling super-positive and we will manage :D I'll get my OS boots on and go forth lol

Happy new year to you all

    K xx

woo hoo, I am going to learn a new skill from scratch. Spinning!!! all I need is a drop spindle (ordered) and some wool to spin and I`m away. That will tie in with dyeing and I`ll make my own colourful yarn combinations in time. So exciting

I am loving the feel-good positivity on the thread

Jackie, I do live in north Kent, so if I see any trolley wielding ladies I'll definitely smile at them!

It's work tomorrow and Friday, but I'm thinking positive thoughts - I'll be boosting my retirement fund, so it's for my own good
