  • Hi MM - your day's eating plan sounds delicious!!! I am a soup fan also - I have a lovely SW recipie for carrot and ginger soup that I will post when I manage to find it!

Where do you live in the med and what is techina? I've never heard of it before :)

    NYD x

I live in Israel. Techina is made from sesame seeds. It's a runny paste that you add water and seasoning and herbs to to make a spread of whatever thickness you like. I think you could probably find it in health food stores there.
Hi Everyone - I was doing really well yday but ended up eating garlic pizza bread with cheese last night : ( but I counted it and moved on...I could really scream at myself sometimes, honestly I could!!!

    NYD x

Well done NYD for just putting it behind you - that's exactly the way to go.

Only just seen this as I've been away for the weekend.

I used the spicy beanburger recipe from the SW website. It says it serves 1 portion but I made 3 big burgers from it and one was plenty for me.
    Spicy Beanburgers:
These versatile veggie burgers go great with Free chips, or inside a wholemeal roll.
    Serves: 1
Syns per serving: FREE on Green/EE; 1.5 on Red

    ingredients
    1 carrot, chopped
    100g/3½oz potato, peeled and chopped
    1 red onion, finely chopped
1 red chilli, deseeded and finely chopped
100g/3½oz canned mixed beans, drained and rinsed
57g/2oz canned green lentils, drained and rinsed
    1 egg
    2 tsp ground cumin
    1 tsp ground cinnamon
4 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves
salt and freshly ground black pepper
    Fry Light

    method

    1. Place all the ingredients in a food processor, season well and blend until well combined. Transfer to a bowl and chill for 3-4 hours or overnight.
    2. .Preheat the oven to 180°C/Gas 4. Divide the bean mixture into two portions and shape each into a burger. Place on a baking tray lined with baking parchment, spray with Fry Light and cook for 12-15 minutes or until golden.

Thank you for the recipe. The burgers sound lovely. Think I will give them a try this week:D

please dont feel :o. I feel embarrassed for keep crawling back in & out. You have been here for the duration (at least the last year) whereas i havent.

Why do you feel that you are not a fab member of your group? I cant imagine your group leader saying you are a fab member for no reason.

Are you feeling that because you upped your target range, and havent yet reached it you are a failure? Try to keep in mind that its harder to lose once you near your target? *big hug*

    Dident explain well.
I was at target for 6 months or so with no major blips.
Since then really struggling & was out of target range.
As skint increased target so wouldent have to pay & now I am over that too.
JUst cant get into zone & am so stressed about it which makes it worse IYSWIM?

If you are finding it hard to pay why don't you just do what many others do and 'go it alone' for a while. I'm sure you know all there is to know about SW plus you have the support on here. In fact you have huge support on here. We're with you all the way.:A
  • For Beanie and anyone else having problems with going to group I just wanted to let you have my experience. As most of you know I live overseas and unfortunately don't have a group to attend (much as I'd love one) but I have to say that having been part of this forum for over a year this, in my opinion, offers so much more than going to group.

I went to group once last year when I was in the UK and as most people have complained, Image Therapy was anything but therapeutic! I really got it why so many people complain and why so many people just don't stay. On saying that I don't understand why you would pay all that money and not stay.

I feel that the support on this forum is a million times better than anything anyone has ever reported in group and although I took a break from the forum for several months I really missed it.

We all have good weeks and bad weeks but just by posting on here it gives me the push I need to get back on the wagon and carry on.

Yes going to group keeps us honest and an extra push because we know we have to get weighed in in front of everyone or at least in front of the consultant but if you are having problems with your own scales then pop down to the local chemist and weigh yourself on the industrial scale there - far more accurate than your home scale and a lot cheaper than paying for group if you're just going to get weighed and leave anyway.

    good luck everyone

Thanks for this Denise! I've tried numerous bean burgers/potato burgers/veggie burgers over the years with SW and have never found any that don't fall apart or taste awful. I'm going to give these a whirl!! Thanks for sharing. :)

    NYD x

Just a tip - beat up the egg and add a little at a time. I added a whole beaten egg and it was a bit wet but I was able to "squeeze" a lot out when I made the burger as I used a burger press ( cheapie one that only makes one burger at a time but it's about 3" across so makes quite big burgers).

Will definitely be using my own tip next time:).

    Morning all,

Miss I - Aw, I really feel for you, your consultant sounds like she is so focused on other people she is completely missing what you are doing. Do you want to get to target at the same class or would you consider a different one? The right leader can make all the difference.

Beanie - you do what you have to do but please do keep coming on here now and again. Hope you get your mojo back soon.

MM - I completely agree about the support here and it is entirely possible for people to go it alone, BUT I'd just like to put in a good word for going to class. The thing is, it entirely depends on your consultant - mine is great and even though I sometimes raise my eyebrows at the odd thing she says, I think most of that is what they are told to 'tow the party line', e.g. coming up with an odd explanation for something rather than saying they don't know why it happened (like Miss I experienced). Generally she is fab, as are the girls at class and I can honestly say I wouldn't have got this far without them. I know I'm lucky though, and I know you have to find the RIGHT class - my mum has just left SW, partly because she couldn't always get there (the friend who she went with is flaky at the best of times and has just got to target so won't be going regularly any more) and the leader, although nice enough, wasn't interested or proactive enough and my mum felt she was paying for nothing, so as I say, class can be a great support but it has to be the right one. (BTW I am now my mum's unofficial leader - she texts me her WI and phones with any confessions during the week :rotfl:)

A good weekend on plan for me so am hoping for (no, expecting!) a good loss this week after last week's little hormonal gain.

    EE today:
    B: Pineapple, strawberries, yogurt, 1 weetabix (1/2 B), honey (2), milk (A)
L: Minestrone soup, apple, benefit bar (1/2 B)
T: OH cooking while I'm at class - think it's going to be something with waffles... :undecided
S: Bit of ice cream after WI

Have a good day folks :)
