WOW! Miss empty piggy - wish my sister was a similar size to me. She's an 8/10 and I'm a 20 though ;)

I bet your sister does too. It's great fun swapping clothes. I have another sister who is an 8/10 and she gets well miffed that she can't join in! bless her. x :rotfl:

I've had my first spend today. I'm rather annoyed. My wellies completely split so I have invested in some snow boots today. However, they were supposed to be £49.99 and were down to £14.99 so my spend so far is just that. I was doing so well :(

    042 *hayley* spent £14.99/£500

5 years of not buying clothes challenge - £0 :j
  • Hello!

Can I join in please? I've never really had a clothes budget before, and I struggle with some items so instead of hunting properly for what I need I just end up buying random stuff to make me feel better after an unsuccessful trip!! (underwear for example)

I would like an annual limit of £240. I'm guessing here as I have no idea how much I normally spend so don't know if this will be challenging or not!

This I hope will kill 2 birds with one stone, I get to figure out how much I do spend, and it will keep me focused on what I actually need!!

    This is to include:

1 pair grey trainers - I tend to walk everywhere and I hate wearing my white gym trainers anywhere other than the gym, stupid I know!! On the other hand my current pair of sketchers have lasted me 2 years, so am going to try for quality again (in the sales)

1 winter coat - my current one is about 4 years old and has seen better days. Was considering just dry - cleaning, resewing the buttons on again and mending the lining, but can't help but feel that I could get a new one for not much more than the dry cleaning cost. I'm vertically challenged and I find it difficult to find coats where the waist/hip/hem falls in the right place. Again I want quality at Sale prices :)

1 pair jeans - the vertical challenge and the hip/waist ratio thing means I can never find any to fit. I may take this out of the budget and keep it separate if I find the right pair, this is one I'm willing to fork out for!!

1 dress for a summer wedding.

I think I may need some luck lol

    Hello!

1 dress for a summer wedding.

I think I may need some luck lol

I would recommend ebay for dress for the wedding. I have bought quite a few nice dresses on ebay where someone has only worn them once for a wedding themselves. If it doesn't fit you can normally resell for the same price. It can be hassle at times but def a cheaper option in my opinion.

    Debt-free and Proud!
    #003 £74/£300

This is for 2 bras, a pair of jeans and the winter coat I bought. Evans charged me the offer price for the jeans rather than full price, wasn't sure if they would or not with me sending the other pair back :T

No more spends for me now for a few months _pale_

I have shopped again, eeks! Yesterday I replaced my basics; I picked up a plain white vest which was technically free as I have store-linked credit card and had a voucher for £6's worth of points which covered that and I just picked up a £6 handm pair of black leggings, I know they are not the most flattering item but they are so useful. Also when I was in there I picked up a top in their sale for £3. I didn’t really need it. It is a summer top which I convinced myself I needed for my holiday and couldn’t leave it in the shop as it was so cheap.

I have a disproportionate amount of summer clothes to winter clothes. There’s just something about them that’s so pretty. I really should invest in more winter clothes as I would get much more wear out of them but yet I am still drawn to all the bright summer clothes instead. I saw a girl the other day who looked so stylish in the snow, her outfit was impeccable, layers, textures, fur and even making wellies look stylish. I however looked like I was wearing a duvet, my winter coat is warm but hardly flattering!

    Hi Everyone!

Just came to declare no spend :) I have been really good and spend nothing at all in January. My boots got a bit messy in the snow but I just treated them with shoe cream, shoe polish and a protector so they should be good to go. I promised myself that if I accomplish this challenge I would buy myself new boots in the next year January sales.

Does anyone know where to get a pair of leather shoe clips or just leather bows under £2 or £3? One of my shoes lost the bow but I did not notice where...So I thought I would buy leather bows and stick them instead. The shoes are ruined without it and can not be worn. I tried ebay but nothing...I'd like something like that but I can add studs myself if I can get a basic leather or faux leather bows.

On the other note, here is another tip from one of the books I read last year. If you must buy something make sure that at least it falls into one of these categories else it won't add value to your wardrobe as such.

Every woman, no matter the profession /occupation must own:

    1. Something to wear at lunch with friends
    2. Something to wear for business & interview
    3. Something for a date
    4. Something to wear for a black tie affair

Everything else can potentially go :)

Stay strong & do not give in!
  • Hello, just popping in to say that I haven't shopped yet :j

I did the challenge last year as well and I think I really have got out of the habit of shopping, its the last thing I want to spend my weekends doing now! I do have the advantage of working somewhere with no dress code so my clothes can be as well worn as they like.

I am having to wear my hiking boots to work in the snow because all my winter boots either leak or have no grips! Who decided to make boots without any grips anyway, what a silly idea?!

I had my Freedom Friday on Saturday instead, and I wore a denim tunic/dress that I normally only wear in the summer with leggings, boots, a long-sleeved tee and a cardi to winter it up.

Keep strong (and keep out the shops :D)
