Decluttering 2013, the saga continues ...

Pleased to say I've managed to keep the momentum going today
. The 4 bags from yesterday have been taken to the CS and I've filled one more and started on a second. The dresser has been tidied, cookery books pruned down to those we actually use, and another bookshelf thinned out. I have to say it feels really good

Apart from the bed and mattress which are going next week the bedroom is now OFFICIALLY decluttered! :j
Three chests of drawers totally empty.
Wardrobes gone.
Printer/router/telephone temporarily relocated to living room.
Carpet lifted.
Yeeha.
I have a schedule for the workmen (don't think there are any workwomen coming) and need to make sure I have enough milk, tea, coffee and biscuits for them.
You will not believe just how happy this Gers is! :j :j :j :j :j :j :j
Downside is that the living room is really cluttered, but it's only with the stuff that I need to keep and will move into the new wardrobes by a week on Tuesday. I could literally jump with joy.
Keep up the mini-tasks, it worked for me since last month so I wish you all good luck on your decluttering.

I love this thread, as it reminds me of hidden and forgotten clutter that I can get rid of
This evening:
Bank stuff into bank file
Sorted out spice cupboard (idea stolen from a fellow poster on here). Got rid of 3 jars (to recycling) and 1 box (in woodburner as it is alight). Also a half jar of coriander and cumin that has been around ages and had got mixed up somehow - emptied into bin, jar to recycling
Loo roll middle into woodburner as well
Old hand lotion that was years old, half empty and I didn't like it anyway because it was too runny - bin
Free papers and used envelopes - recycling.
Pennies from purse - savings tin
Receipt for car service - filed
Junk from handbag - woodburner0 -
I'm not sure I'm getting this right - I've managed to turf out quite a lot this week but then accepted a box of books and some DVD's from my cousin! Not quite the idea......(but I will read them and it saves me buying). I've also packed up some of my books and the one's from my cousin that I don't want and they'll go on our local Facebook freebie site tonight.
It was also brought home to me how unorganised I have been (see positive slant "have been"), I had a funeral to go to today and needed another handbag - went on a hunt and discovered a bag I stopped using over 12 months ago - still full of all the crud that lives in handbags and now covered in a layer of dust....
Must do better....Piglet

Enlisted the help of my husband, managed to go through some more kitchen cupboards. These have bitten the dust:
Product manuals (useful ones now kept with other documents)
Electric socket extensions
Bottle of OOD Lambrini Light (!)
Huge quantities of plastic boxes (my OH likes to keep them as they might come in useful, kept just a few and asked him if we can avoid building up another huge collection)
Baking bits and pieces
Cook book (tend only to look up recipes online now)
Carriage clock
Old hot water bottle
Mysterious white tape
Now managed to move everything from the top of the fridge to cupboards. There is still a space under the microwave that is jam packed, avoiding that one for now as some bits from my Dad and pots my Granny made, so too difficult for now.
Also put batteries in emergency torch, filed cat documents in folder and cat medication in more sensible place.0 -
Nothing done in the last few days as I've been busy at work and watching CBB
. Today a few things have crept into the house: my DS2's new laptop, 2 storage boxes which I'm hoping to use to sort out things I want to keep, and we also had a couple of other missed parcels notes which we'll get on Saturday.
Totally off subject, but I've had to buy a new pair of PE shorts for DS2 as he's lost his. I wouldn't mind so much but his school insist that they have the school logo on and you can only buy them from a certain company. They're £12 plus £3.95 p+p :mad::mad::mad:. This is the only way you can buy them too, unless they have a uniform sale but the next one isn't until mid March and if he doesn't have them he'll get a detention . Rant over!

Hopefully get more done over the weekend, I don't have much time when I finish work and see to the kids.:j:j:jmummybear3I will declutter, I will declutter............meaning less to clear away and more time to spend with my lovely family0 -
Had a bit of a blitz under the kitchen sink today, tidied up all the various bottles of cleaners that had accumulated. It seems like every time we go out shopping hubby puts another bottle of some cleaner or other in the trolley! Had a sort through and used some up/decanted some into same product bottles/tipped some down the sink. Looks a lot better and I have [STRIKE]told [/STRIKE]asked him not to buy any more until he's checked to see if we actually need it!
70. Old magazine
71. Junk mail
72. Free newspaper
73. Old air freshener that had lost its smell
74. Mouldy grapes put in compost bin
75. Lovely useful plastic container from laundry liquitabs. I'm sure I could make use of this, but as I've got 2 more full ones in stock I'll let this one go.
76. Tupperware type box without lid
77. 2 out of date oven cleaners - for hazardous bin at recycling centre
78. 2 creme cleaners put into 1 bottle
79. Fabric made into 4 morsbags
80. 4 more boxes of daughter's stuff we were storing given back
Getting there slowly....Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing
