    Old handbag emptied and binned.

7 items listed on Ebay. Quick look in my food cupboard, and four items binned as OOD :o That's it for today, time for a cuppa

Have managed to get a few things out of my husbands wardrobe today, so that's a bit of progress.

Trouble with him is, he has got some really old shirts, but he does still genuinely wear them on a regular basis.

But if things are in use they don't need de-cluttering, and he won't need any new clothes for ages !

  • Please can I join in? I read some of this thread last week and since then have been inspired to get on with the de-cluttering I've been avoiding for a long, long time. A relative died last year and we've inherited LOTS of their stuff. Our spare bedroom hasn't been seen in months! Much of this stuff has ancestry and emotion attached to it and I've just not felt ready to tackle it as yet. We've had the loft boarded to give us somewhere to keep it temporarily until I'm strong enough to wade my way through and so its making its way up there and freeing up some living space. I know this isn't de-cluttering in its true sense but its helping as its not so in-our-faces. However, its got us to make inroads into tackling some of 'our' stuff and we've made a start. Today there's 4 bags for the charity shop, a bookcase cleared and a load of old papers shredded for the compost. Baby steps I know but I hope that by joining this thread I'll be able to continue to be motivated. There's a long way to go......

I left work today at lunch time because the water company was going to come and replace our water meter that was leaking.

This afternoon I have hoovered the house and done some sewing. I took the chance to hoover today since OH is away tonight and the most important room to hoover was his office. Last time I hoovered it was 18 months ago. Now when most of his paperwork on the floor has been shredded I didn't want to miss the opportunity to clean the office properly. Also 2 phone calls have also been done so they can now come off my to do list.
No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

Hi everyone and well done on your progress :)

Had a really good night's decluttering yesterday as I got home from work on time and everyone was watching a very dull looking film on TV so took the opportunity to get stuck in!

A lampshade, bag full of ornaments, several dusty bunches of dried flowers, three vases, a cookery book, wine rack, recipe book holder, a jug and bowl, two pyrex dishes, an old set of cutlery, loads of plastic boxes and a washing up bowl in car ready for a trip to the CS.

A broken basket, 4 chipped glasses, two revolting baking trays, 3 equally revolting wooden spoons, a rusty whisk and four boxes of videos bagged up ready for a trip to the tip.

Gave all my kitchen cupboards a good wipe out - not pleasant:o Lovely, clean and fresh now though:j

No more for me now until the weekend. Best of luck everyone

Not been able to do much, because I am now back at work, but I did [STRIKE]ask[/STRIKE] force my son to sort out his clothes, much to his distaste, and have another bag for the recyling shop :).

My oldest is 13 and growing fast and needs a huge sort out of clothes, as in the last few weeks he has had another growth spurt, and I've noticed that his clothes are begining to look too small. As his reward for doing this 'chore' he got xbox time, and at the weekened we will go shopping for a few clothes to replace the ones that don't fit.

Will try to sort out the toy cupboard at the weekend, and get it to a point where I can actually shut the door properly.
2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family.
It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,000
  • Just flung 28 magazines - only went through the cross stitch ones for suitable patterns, the rest were flung with ne'er a backword glance (well maybe a small one ;) ) and a bottle of perfume that always reminds me of when I was off from work with depression - that makes a total of 113 items so far since new year - still a ways to go tho'

    I'd rather be watching CSI!

I have been doing that for the last 6 months odd but just feel like am not making as much progress as I would like doing dribs and drabs after work and at weekends. If I break the back of it I don't mind carrying on with mini declutters afterwards. The contents of the loft weigh heaviest on my mind :(
Our loft is bad too. That is something that needs a bit more time so that it's done safely :)

Found myself looking at conditioners in Home Bargains. I don't need any. Ended up buying a Nivea set thought that's good for £2.99. I don't need any of the contents. It came up as £4.99. So the universe spoke loud and clear... and said actually I think you'll find you don't need that. So back it went.

So came away with stuff we use up regularly (cleaning bits etc) and bubble bath to refill the hand wash pumps. You have to fight this clutter on the beaches, at home and at Home Bargains
