Decluttering 2013, the saga continues ...

Last year my friend caught the de-cluttering bug from me.
She had some shopaholic tendencies, and had some LOVELY stuff.
As part of my little eBay business, I sold some of her stuff on my eBay business account, and shared the proceeds 50-50 with her. We raised a fair amount of money.
I saw her earlier, and she has passed me another load of 'stuff', which is currently on the spare bed.
As it's business, I can't include it in my personal de-cluttering, so I'll be selling her things, as well as carrying on the de-clutter with my own things.
I'm going to be busy, I think!Early retired - 18th December 2014

Hi all, not much to report.
Didn't get to the charity shop or the post office but have started going through our paperwork again, got bits to shred.
Found a ripped mattress protector for dust - BIN.
Regifted an unwanted Xmas present for a birthday in feb.
Sold another item (5 - 7 items going out tomorrow - 2 haven't paid yet.
Listed 4 more things on eBay (have 16 things listed now and 5 have bids on :j)
Returned the broken car garage we got at Xmas to elc and they gave us £15 gift voucher. Will spend getting ds a wee something seeing as it was his gift and the rest towards a different bday gift for kids friends etc.
Arranged for a friend to have DS' old trousers for her son to grow into (that will be 4/5 pairs out of the house

Hoping I'll make the charity shop and the tip tomorrow at some point! Need to get a grocery shopping list done and get to bed!

Hi,
I'd like to join the challenge, this year if I may.
I have a tiny 1 bed flat, which I am going to have to move out of in 3 months (Landlord is putting the rent up - again.) and I don't want to have to take all my clutter with me.
I figured i would divide my apartment up into small areas, then try and tackle an area every 3 days. Leaving my wardrobe for a long weekend.
I was wondering if anyone had any mantras or affirmation type statements that helped let go of stuff. Having no money I am so reluctant to throw things away in case I need them, then have to rebuy them. I know I need to shake this mind set. Any ideas what I could focus on motivate myself?0 -
My update, working today but I'm on a mission to clear out.
73-75 Old shoes, including one new pair with tags and all - CS
76-77 Sons trainers - Bin
78 - 79 Old folder, papers - Recycle
80-86 DD old clothes recycled to Niece

89-91 Old bags, torn - Bin
92-93 Stained T-shirts - textile recycle

I find it best to move round rooms, I think it feels too much like hard work to completely do one room at a time, they all seem to contain sooo much clutter.
m:j:j:jmummybear3I will declutter, I will declutter............meaning less to clear away and more time to spend with my lovely family0 -

Nothing much today, did a bit of putting things away where they should go, and did cull my jamjar collection down to 3 from about 15. I sometimes make jam in the summer (strawberry) and I have 3 'favourite' jars that I have had for over 15 years that I use and re-use and re-use. They have a fruit pattern moulded in the glass and I've never seen any like it in the shops, so once the jam is eaten I save it for the next batch of jam making. I can also put the box they were in out for recycling.
Went out shopping today with OH, daughter and grandson, managed to only spend £5; £3 on 3 new collection tins that will be distributed to collectors; £1 on a new tub of elastic bands (can never find a non-perished one when I want one); and a bag of jelly sweets which I fancied.
Think I'm 'cured' of buying non-essential stuff. I can walk into a shop and resist most things now, as I am mentally thinking "do I need it, where will I put it, will I have to dust it?"
I did nearly weaken twice: we stopped off for a coffee at son in law's snack van and in the road was a lovely wooden cable spool, nice wooden one. I ummed and aaahed, went over to it a couple of times and almost convinced myself I could make something out of it. There wasn't room in the car so son in law said he might bring it home for me. Then when we went back to daughter's house, her Christmas Wreath had been taken down and put on the wheelie bin, and I wanted to rescue the basis of it to make another one next Christmas!!! But I was strong - I resisted both!
So all to report today is
49. Jam jars sorted out and a dozen put in the recycling.
50. Box jars were in can go in paper recycling now
Had an idea to move a few bits of furniture around so might be able to get rid of one item if it works... but that's for another day!Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

It's a good feeling, isn't it? You have been very strong to resist temptation! I'm trying to be better at that myself and have certainly noticed the end result in my bank balance. It's amazing how much I was spending on stuff I only wanted because I got so many marketing emails every day from those one-day-deal websites.loopychriss wrote: »Think I'm 'cured' of buying non-essential stuff. Today I'm tackling the pantry/cupboard under the stairs. I'm going to tie a rope round my waist before I venture in - the breeding plastic bags in there are vicious."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000
