A few weeks ago I decided to grab the bull by the horns are start decluttering. I've tried before but usually haven't got very far! I feel very cluttered mentally at the moment and a cluttered home doesn't help.

So far I have gradually tackled, decluttered and reorganised:
    Cupboard under the stairs
    Underwear drawer
Toiletries (ancient half used gifts mainly, need to do a second wave being more brutal I think)
    OH's tshirt drawer
    Jumper drawer
    Shoes
    Craft box
    Trousers drawer
    Tshirt drawer
Wardrobe - top shelf, hanging stuff, bottom dwellers!
All 4 living room unit drawers

    I still need to do:
    - Be more brutal with t-shirts and get rid of more. Most of them don't fit, flatter or are broken in some way...but if I get rid of all the ones that don't fit or flatter I won't have anything to wear and have little money to replace them with :(
    - Kitchen - cleaning cupboard, tins, "misc tupperware/old cereal/mixing bowls, just-in-case ice-cream tub" cupboard
    - Airing cupboard
    - Travelling knick knacks that are more dust gatherers than ornaments
    - Dreaded box room
    - Hall "landing zone" wire storage/dumping ground

I'll continue slowly working through, but this time I am focusing on being thorough and realistic about KEEPING it decluttered and organised. Eg I'm most proud of OH's and my tshirt drawers! They have been arranged so that there is no need to mess up the drawers to find what we need in the future! Drawer dividers (£3 from B&M) were great for my tops.

  • Spare room is now empty!! .... so after xmas we can get on with decorating.

Thank heavens dh has been home today cos I very much doubt it would have all been done else, we have completly emptied and sorted the spare room, I've hung pictures on the landing and stairs, sorted ds's huge box of books and got them on the bookcase, cleaned all the woodwork up the stairs, tidied and scrubbed the bathroom, hoovered hall stairs and landing...... the house is looking lovely, organised and clean.

Ds has just got in from school, he walked up the stairs and I could hear him say...'Wow it looks beautiful..... bless him.

6 small boxes packed ...away in the loft
2 boxes of bric a brac... charity shop
    Dvd player...friend
    1 pillow... charity shop
    Rocking chair... freecycle
    4 binliners full of rubbish
    2 large cardboard boxes... recycling
1 box of card making bits... charity shop

Just got ours and ds's bedrooms and the garden to do now, so will get them done over the weekend.

Tonight I'll sort through a box of christmas decs dh found lurking in the spare room.

  • Well done everyone! I have had very little time at home due to work and a other commitments, have been clearing the odd shelf/drawer/cupboard.

Was good to see lots of my donated items for sale at the charity shop the other day!
A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.

Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

    one life, live it!

  • I have a normal kitchen!

After a good couple of weeks of decluttering I have found the table, work surfaces and I now know what is in the cupboards. I am so, so happy.

I have thrown out over 10 - yes, 10! - binliners of rubbish, most of them full of assorted pieces of paper that had been dumped in drawers and cupboards. Another 2 binliners and 4 boxes full have gone to charity.

Today I am going to scrub and clean every nook and cranny and tonight we are going eat at the table rather than in front of the TV.

I now promise myself that I am never, ever going to let the kitchen get even slightly cluttered again, no matter how little help I get from DH and kids. Tomorrow I start on the hallway and landing - several boxes of junk have been dumped there ready to go into the loft. This time I'm going to catch them before they get up there and declutter all the junk out!

Think it may be time to start lurking on the Flylady thread :)

I think I've run out of things to declutter! This morning managed to find:

    Broken ornament
    Old tablets (taken to chemists)
    Set of pictures
    Clip board
    Lamp
    Necklace
  • Sorted the decoration box out last night

    out,
1 carrier bag full of decs... charity shop
1 santa hat, ripped...why did I keep it???? ....bin!
    2 candles... charity shop
bag of crotal bells, popped in craft room.

The car boot is full of boxes to take to the charity shop, so going to take them in a mo, cannot believe how much stuff I've got rid of make me wonder where it all comes from, just a car load for the tip left to go, dh will do that over the weekend .

Hope you all have a lovely day x

Hi everyone. Sorry i have not been posting, but I have been busy decluttering :D

I have started on the loft  and took two large suitcases of books and three bin bags of cuddly toys and clothes to the charity shop yesterday. I have also sorted out a couple of shelves and cupboards downstairs and have resisted the temptation to put anything else up in the lost.

Back bedroom is full of 'stuff' that I have brought down, but now needs to be sorted and disposed of. One problem is that lots of it belongs to my two DD's and I now need to wait until they are visiting to get them to go through it and take what they want.

I have lost count, but I am estimating that I am at least up to 200.

Spent the afternoon decluttering the airing cupboard - another 35 things to add to my total.

Don't think I will get much more done this week. Planning to do the kitchen cupboards next week - so many miss matched mugs and plates, not to mention juicers, waffle makers, etc, that never get used! Will need to be strong and just get rid!
