Lost my decluttering mojo a bit, didn't do any yesterday. However I only had 17 left to do to achieve my 300 target, so spent 10 minutes this evening.

    Decluttered from my daughter's desk:

    Magazine
    Assorted bits of origami
Activity set (she's done the bits she wanted to do)

Wandering around downstairs, found a few oddments to declutter:

Old cat food measure (got a new one ages ago)
    Out of date soluble aspirin
    OOD Thai fish sauce
Plastic ponies (kept all the real My Little Ponies but these were imitation!)

Also sent 2 packs of chocolates to school for the fair, not counting these though as were bought in November anyhow. Just got 10 items to declutter tomorrow to reach my target.
  • Hi guys,

Sooooooo, I would like to join you all, late in the year, but I'll continue next year as well, it will take more than a month to sort my flat out.

My flat is a complete cluttery tip that has gone from bad to worse, and now I have piles of stuff everywhere.

I haven't had anyone round since March as I'm so ashamed, yet I have never done anything about it - but enough is enough. I've been reading all the threads on the OS board about de-cluttering and tidying and I'm ready to start. Small baby steps but I think that's what everyone suggests at first.

I'm a terrible hoarder, rubbish at throwing anything away in case I need it. :o

    So there is my confession.

To start I have made a list of 36 things I need to do, most small steps and I have a dice app on my phone, each time I have an hour to spare I am going to roll the dice and do whatever it says on the list.

I'm also reading the flylady thread and think I'll start small with that, then once I have some of the clutter under control add that into a routine I can follow.

I think it's going to be hard, I have a trouble even imagining throwing lots of the stuff out - I'm going to try to ebay a lot of it and use the cash as an incentive to help me :rotfl:

anywho, that's me. Nice to meet you all.

Welcome Committed  and good luck with your decluttering; I like the dice and list idea.

There's been an impressive amount of decluttering on here this month, but I must admit I've failed the 300 in November challenge. I've been battling vertigo for the last couple of weeks but I think the Dr has sorted it now so I'll be starting afresh on 300 in December.

Happy St Andrews day to any scottish declutterers :)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

I am not getting much decluttering done at the moment. I started a new job a couple of months ago and have felt really tired in November. I have also spent time buying Christmas presents, thankfully most presents have been bought now.

So far this weekend I have managed to declutter all my birthday cards from the mantelpiece, I shall put them in the card recycling box after Christmas. A bag with old magazines and crosswords have been given to MIL and FIL. I am planning to hoover and duster tomorrow.

Good luck to you all with this challenge.

    Hi declutterers,

Any ideas for December decluttering to end 2013 "on a good note?".

Thanks Becky, Dr did the Epley manoeuvre and it seems to have worked, thank goodness. Back to decluttering tomorrow! :)

My Mum has vertigo periodically. Her Mum had it as well. I was talking about it to a friend last week who was also being treated for it and she told me that, in her case, it wasn't vertigo at all but a vitamin B12 deficiency. She has injections 3 monthly now and is fine. Just worth bearing in mind for anyone not sure or double checking to make sure? Apologies to the true vertigo sufferers but this may be of use to someone I hope. x

Spent 30 stressful minutes (felt like hours) sorting out my daughter's bedroom. Between us we decluttered:

    2 bags of recycling
2 bags of stuff for charity shop
    4 bags of rubbish
    Shelf

    Decluttered from my craft room:

    2 books

Phew, that's the 300 items done. Glad to have a little break but will return to declutter once more in the New Year. Good luck to everyone.
