The three desk drawers have been decluttered. :j

Found about 25 USB memory sticks and eight assorted memory cards which is very :(

Scanned a whole bunch more photos but left another load alone as I'd sat at my desk too long.

So much junk bring taken out this house it's embarrassing!

    More tomorrow no doubt.

    morning all

Gers, you sound really motivated but dont let it bring you down, in this thread weve all realised we have a clutter/slight hording problem and we are doing something about it each for our own reasons.

everything that goes out is something we dont have to dust, tidy, move round, look at or put away ever again.
be sure you want to get rid of the item then be happy you have done something about it
it doesnt matter how much clutter we get rid of as long as we dont let it build up again.

57 broken electrical thermometer - binned
58-61 4 dvds - put on the donate to the school fayre pile
62 finally finished off the bailieys and chocolate cups id got for mothers day. all packaging binned or recycled

Phew I am trying to build up to decluttering for a wee half hour :)

Rummer, I have developed an easyish system where I get a black sack/box on the floor, put the relevant items on the sofa next to me and sort them straight into the bag.

Easy things to do in managable chunks are: piles of books, one drawer taken out of the kitchen/chest of drawers, pile of clothes, handbags- including the current one in use, sort out contents of purse etc.

It is also achievable to do one shelf in a cupboard/windowsill if it all seems too daunting.

    Thanks MM :)

I am doing the fly lady cleaning your house thing on the Old Style Board. Today was the bathroom. I decluttered 2 unloved toiletries in there. Having to move stuff made it harder/take more time to do.

So a couple of cleaning products will go downstairs in the now sorted under sink cupboard.

I need to sort though the bathroom cabinet again to organize it, use up any dregs of things.

So tally is 91. Needs to be approximately 112 today I think.

    :j
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

  • 5 bags collected by charity van:j this morning. Decluttered the garden this morning of some dead sunflower plants and put the seed heads out for the birds. Potted up some foxglove seedlings.

Need to clean and tidy the conservatory. One main area that needs decluttering is the under-stairs cupboard but I think I will save that for a rainy weekend. It's gonna be a big job.

Also need to sort through offsprings clothes and get rid of those that are now too small.

I'm really feeling the benefit of the decluttering. The bedrooms look fab now, really calming and pretty and they are so much easier to keep clean. Keep up the good work everyone:)

    Good advice, thank you!

I think it can become a bit overwhelming so I am trying to just do a couple of wee areas/jobs a day instead of thinking I have to clear the whole house. What doesn't help is that we are getting work done so there is stuff piled everywhere!

  • Decluttered med box... Loads of vitamins long out of date! Also 10 books and 1 bag of clothes for CS so been good day. Haven't had much online time due to work family and hav been neglecting the decluttering but have set a goal to redo every room before Xmas ... Also going to have fewer decorations this year just a nice tree and wreath for front door . In am aim to bring less into the house I am not buying anymore clothes for family for a year ... Except necessary shoes undies! Have been thru the wardrobes and we have on average 6 winter coats each! 4 scarves and several hats ... Summer wardrobes also overflowing am so annoyed I have wasted so much money! Every non spent day I am putting a pound into a tin towards a treat.Aiming to declutter 5 things a day in Oct. Keep up the inspiring work all!
No more toys til Xmas 2022 , mfw 2023 challenge , Trying to not waste food , time or money and appreciate the moment more!
