    morning all

Gers, you sound really motivated but dont let it bring you down, in this thread weve all realised we have a clutter/slight hording problem and we are doing something about it each for our own reasons.

everything that goes out is something we dont have to dust, tidy, move round, look at or put away ever again.
be sure you want to get rid of the item then be happy you have done something about it
it doesnt matter how much clutter we get rid of as long as we dont let it build up again.

Thanks - I am very motivated by the fact that the removal men are coming on 30 October! Whilst I am having them pack I really don't want to move hordes of clutter and then have to pay for the storage for about four weeks. It's just embarrassing that in these days of restraint and recession I have so much stuff that I don't need or even want.

I do regular declutters and am not a hoarder - just seems that stuff accumulates to fill available space. The new place has much less storage so I need to remain radical. I used to be almost a minimalist - I think that advancing years brings an increase in stuff!

Today then! Three more black bins full of stuff to the tip (the blokes are beginning to look at me with bewilderment) and another three carriers to the CS. Told them about the move and the woman there did the change of address form for my gift aid.

Got rid of two items on freegle too. :j

Hope everyone else has had a productive day too.

 (gin and tonic - need to declutter the Hendricks!
  • Oh dear, decluttering here not going too well, due to a combination of post-holiday blues, upset stomach and general 'can't be a**ed-ness'!!

At least the cases are unpacked now and back up in the loft, that's an improvement on past years, they're usually still cluttering up the bedroom a month after we get back!

I have sorted through my dolls' house stuff, and parted with a few things, not anything that makes a vast difference though.

We seem to be accumulating more - we had a log burner fitted in June and have just had a load of logs delivered, also rescued 4 pallets from a skip tonight. That is all in the garden though, so not really cluttering the house.

I told OH that I am going to treat this exercise to declutter as a 'pre house going on the market' exercise, like before. It was the only way I could get motivated and keep it up, by the thought that people would be coming to look at the house! It worked too... although it was a strain at the end.

    So... a few outs

    20. Shredded all the receipts from holiday purchases - getting rid of the evidence!
    21. Pulled a load of weeds from garden and swept up
    22. Lots of felt for hospital nursery
    23. Empty money collecting tin - money counted ready to bank, tin in bin
    24. Electoral registration done online, and paper form shredded
    25. NHS prepayment card shredded
    26. Stale chocolate croissants chucked out in garden for birds

Really can't think of anything else..... still suffering jet lag and can't think straight. I'll start writing it all down tomorrow and hopefully get to my 100 by the end of the month.

Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

Doing fly lady this week so that's taking up a bit of time but the results of seeing the house cleaner, combined with the decluttering, are worth it.

Found a load of muslin clothes I didn't know I had. Not liz Earle. No idea where I bought them.

In sorting the airing cupboard I found 4 odd socks.

I sorted through my make up. Put a set of things I need to use up in a separate make up bag. I can't use the other supplies til this lot is used up. Things like a concealer in a tube which must run out soon, the ends of a blusher, that sort of thing.

Hope everyone else is doing ok :j

  • Finished some toiletries, cheated and threw some that were not 100% empty. Was thoroughly fed up with them, they have been lingering for months!

Sorted some more clothes. Sorted another small cupboard.

The car boot sale went well, made £100 towards going to a uni open day with dd1.

May do one more before winter sets in.

Still got loads to do, Mr MM got loads of stuff out of the loft so thats got to be chucked/donated/sold.
A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.

Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

    one life, live it!

My last visited says 10th May so it has been a while! I feel I was doing well when I was posting on here and reading about everyone's successes so am back. Glad to see some of the same people are still on here :)

In the last couple of months I have given away a bag of nail polishes on freecycle and donated 2 bags to the CS. However I just feel things are piling up again. Makeup is the worst thing. I buy lipsticks then get home and realise they are awful so I have a fair few to ditch but the thought of going through them all is so daunting :( I bought 2 pairs of boyfriend jeans from Next and think I look the size of a house in them, I don't know what I was thinking. Same goes for a pair of metallic high top trainers also from Next. I have a lamp and a white sky plus box to go on Freecycle. The loft also needs to be gone over with a fine tooth comb and now the colder weather is almost here I feel I wasted the summer as I should have done it then :( not good.

Bit of an update, not sure where time is going at the moment but I have managed the following:

8-12 Things to the Brownie/Guide cupboard
13-23 Packaging jiffy bags/mailing sacks reused from things I've sold
24-27 4 more items of clothing sold on F**ebook, posted today
28-41 Another batch of craft items sold on F**ebook, posted today
42-46 boxes of various green/fruit teas I won't drink, 3 not open onto shelves at work where you can put bits for other people to take.
47 - box of tea bags I will drink bought into work from home so they get used up.
48-50 Books bought as wedding gifts taken to the wedding - first non-gift list wedding I've been to, bit weird walking in with a gift.

So I'm 10% there and 26% through the month - better get cracking!
